Just picked up a new SATA drive and it has a jumper for "limit to 1.5 g/sec or 3 with no jumper.. what is the use to limit it? i have another SATA drive that came un jumpered(3gb..)

heat issues maybe? maybe the life span of the drive is shorter with the full 3gbps transfer unlimited? those are th eonly two thinks i can think of.

never mind. found it. not all MBs support the SATA II 3.0gb

yep older mobos are sata 1.5
