At Redline Sat. night.

We've tried to find a sport for my little girl to compete in. Ice skating/hockey/softball/soccer/basketball. All of them are "ok" but nothing more. When she was five she saw Junior Dragsters at the dale and was muey impressed. For almost three years, she's kept talking about junior dragsters. She's finally old enough now so we arranged for a friend to have his son's old car at Redline last night. She jumped in with no hesitation and tried hard to do what we told her. After the first run she came back and told me she wants to do this every weekend forever!

Here's the results:

Run 1
RT: 1.46
60': 4.37
330': 17.95
Got a little scared because her shield fogged up, stopped on the track, shut down the motor. Had to be towed back to the pits with the golf cart. The timer auto reset LONG before she got to the big end.

Run 2
RT: 1.03
60': 2.74
1/8 mile: 21.66 @ 17.90 mph
Pedaled it all the way down, followed the golf cart on her own.

Run 3
RT: 1.06
60': 2.98
1/8 mile: 16.53 @ 33.24 mph

Everybody at the track was extra cool. I know sitting in the staging lanes waiting for some goofy kid to take six hours to run down the track is a pain in the ass, but I appreciate the patience of everybody from here who was there and got stuck waiting. It really made an impression on a kid.

Cute girl! My daughters are only interested in playing on the computer (oldest) and coach purses/any kind of expensive fashion item (youngest) :(

This one is ready to go and I can buy it cheaper than build one. It'll be birthday/Christmas. Besides, I'm knee deep in building MY racecar and my wife's hotrod. I'm broke from projects now.

At least somebody in the family will have a running racecar...

They're actually pretty simple (drove one as a kid for 2 seasons) from what I remember, but that was a long time ago so I could be wrong.

You can buy basically everything you need in kits off of summit if I'm not mistaken.

edit: can't find the stuff on summit's website, could have been somwhere else. and racingjunk.com is bound to have a ton of completed cars for cheap.

My daughter started earlier this summer.Went all out first pass 11.50@56mph with a throttle stop at about 1/2 throttle to try to slow it down to nhra's 12.90 limit on 8 yr olds. She keeps wanting to know why we won't let run as fast now

Make that thing faster!!!! We race at SA Raceway and most of them run low 8s in the 1/8 mile. But she does look happy!! :)

CHS is thinking about Jeg's. They have everything from the dragster to engines etc. Plus check racingjunk.com for someone who's kid is moving up and they don't need the dragster anymore.

She looks excited! My oldest son really wants to race karts on the dirt track, he's in love with the WoO. Of course the karts look just like sprint cars.
