If your going to throw that bullshit out there you may as well atleast say "oh yeah, smaller tire and 600lbs more."

I mean its cool to have an opinion but you got to be fair with them

Oh, and this isnt prostock, its outlaw, why should he have to run like a prostocker when hes crushing everyone in his field.....guess all the outlaw guys are just fags

That is very impressive. Those guys are very intelligent with those hairdryers. They are good at tuning a chassis too. They are damn damn sure leaders and not followers when it comes these cars. I like the fact that they aren’t afraid to think outside the box and experiment. Sometimes it doesn’t pay off and sometimes it pays off big.

well I was just playin around.....but still, even with a smaller tire and 600# more I personally am on the fence about it. ~3000hp and a lenco is still slower than 1250hp and a liberty.

1st he has a powerglide, 2nd it's 650#s more, 3rd nhra pro stockers make 1400hp, 4th pro stockers have a .986 60' which is the only reason they run the numbers they do.Last but not least when the pro stock record was set it was during " perfect" conditions that pro stock guys have never seen before or since richmond 2006.

Greg Anderson seems to disagree with your 1400hp figure...he's said 1250 several times this year. As for Lynch's trans, I had heard it was a lenco...my bad. The car hauls ass for sure, just...its what? 2500hp?

As for the pro stock record, they ran those numbers on 3 occasions atleast. Virginia 06, Gainsville 06 and they were right down there again Gainsville 07.

you did also leave out a few things........ like a huge tire in comparison to the outlaw 10.5W and those cars are FULL CHASSIS cars, NOT stock firewall and front suspension cars... Those two facts mean alot in the scheme of things.

It's fast enough to have qualified in Pro Mod at the fall nationals... how many other outlaw cars can say that?

So do you actualy think Greg Anderson is going to come out on national tv and tell everyone how much power his motors are really making? I don't think so. I have seen dyno sheets from a current pro stock legal motor that can't even qualify and it's closer to 1400 than 1250 so I'm sure the top guys are very close to the 1400 mark. If you truly understood the difference between the two types of cars and what makes them run the numbers they do you wouldn't be trying to compare them. Also it cost damn near a million dollars to have a pro stocker that will qualify. I'm pretty sure that their well under that mark.

One is professional drag racing with multi million dollar racing teams and years of experience and the other is grass roots where the driver, builder, tuner and owner are often the same person.

P/S cars have ran the same combinations for what 20 years? Sure they have had new engines enter the mix but still at 500cid and they still use full chassis cars, big tires and a manual transmission. With billions of dollars thrown at R&D, factory backed engine programs and F-1 caliber people working on the cars they should be damned fast.

Throw a billion dollars at an outlaw 10.5 team and you'd see them running 5s.

NOT taking sides here but I thought prostock was making 1500hp 10 years ago? I figure they would be in the 1700ish range by now to be running 6.70's...?

Either way Prostock is my favorite type of drag racing. Simplistic yet very well refined.

I know you aren't taking sides, but I'll take sides against you. :) If they're making 1700ish, then them running the same ETs as the small tire guys is less than impressive, considering the extra weight vs the extra power.

Of course, we could get into the physics of a small tire car vs a large tire car, but that would lose SLOWVERADO, forget about the firewall.

They were making around 1180/1200 ten years ago. Now Ihra pro stockers make around 1800 hp. Ihra run more mph but et wise they really arent that much quicker than the nhra boys. To me pro stock is the ultimate racing class.

First of all, dont believe anything GA says about hp numbers. If you do the math they are closer to 1400 than 1250. 1250 was in the late 90s/early 00s. Second of all, dont pro stock cars run on a 33x16 tire? Put one of them on a 10.5 and see if they come anywhere close. They are making comparable if less power than one of Billy Glidden's small blocks and he is at 2450. That would put them at about 6.90s. So if you want to go which is more impressive the 6.55 by Line or the 6.57 by Lynch, Im going with Lynch.

BTW Lynch and Petty are geniuses hands down.

Brian F.
10-14-2007, 07:28 PM
well i guess its true. Someone who was at the race says he went a 6.54 and then a 6.53, i mean holy shit as if one big pass wasnt enough he keeps just dropping bombs!!!!!!

6.57 cant remember the EXACT 60' but it was like a 1.15, and the 1/8 was 4.39@177

Brian F.

From another board congradulating them on the record.

"6.54, 6.54, then a 6.53.
4.35, 4.36, 4.34

Yes, those are world records in the 1/8th, and 1/4, and they were ran back to back to back in eliminations."

And how many passes are the rings, valve springs, rod bearings, connecting rods, pistons, valves, valve seats, pushrods, rocker arms clutch disks and camshafts good for? It's an N/A car that requires more maintenance per event than an outlaw car needs all season.

I still like them a lot but it's ridiculous how much money it costs to be competitive in the class. Then again it is PRO stock, not amateur stock.

You should read up on the A-sedan road racing. It is supposed to be a "stockish" class using stock blocks, stock heads and mostly stock suspensions....but...ever see a stock 302 turning 8500 rpm?! :o
