I think he needs a better rear suspension. they are putting down way to much power now for the stock set up they are running.
I am glad to hear he walked and did not get hurt.

For those of you who dont know...a lot of the money comes from both David and I. All that is important is that he is ok. And yes..we will be working on the car tonight. Thanks for your concerns.

Lots of horse power and small tires. Sometimes that doesn't make for a good combo.

It was sickening to see such a nice car get wrecked. David, Ken, and the entire crew has put countless hours in that thing recently to get it in the shape it was in before the wreck.
There was a deafening silence that fell over that place when the car got loose. I was a bit suprised to see David in what seemed to be good spirits after the wreck. I know if that happened to me, I'd be pissed and wouldn't want to be around anyone.
For a 160 MPH wreck, it wasn't NEAR as bad as I'd expect to see - but a closer examination may reveal more.. I have no doubt in my mind David and the crew will have it back together and better than ever in no time flat.
The most important part, as stated above, is that David is alright. He said he felt fine, but DAMN, I bet he is sore tomorrow!
For the haters, Go do that shit somewhere else!

so did they figure out what caused the wreck?
so did they figure out what caused the wreck?
2500+hp + small tires maybe? You get close to the edge and the smallest things can cause catastrophic problems. Just a little bit of oil or water on the track can put a car like Nelly's into the wall.
The important thing is that everyone is okay, great to hear! You can always fix a car or build another one but it's hard to replace people.

But anyone can back half a race car. Kinda cool seeing a car that can run faster and have a back seat. Plus it makes the setup more of the chore.... We cant all be super fast like you sir...
turbostang
10-13-2007, 09:27 AM
I am pretty sure it doesn't have a back seat, since it has a huge intercooler back there.. but it does have "stock type" suspension.

10-13-2007, 09:30 AM
Damn, glad david is ok. I was looking forward for your guys to battle with the east guys next weekend in houston.
All you other guys are comparing two total different built cars for different classes. David/Ken's car is very fast for its class, and so is gliddens for what classes he runs in. Keep in mind they race different classes.
For comparisons, compare David/Ken's car to Dillards' (Limitied Street car) and compare Gliddens car to Pro Outlaw/Adrl type of cars. Then you can have a debat.

Brooks, you saw it when I did.
No back seat, just straight cage, tubs, CO2 for the chute, and intercooler back there!

I hear the car is all tore down and they plan on making Houston. The car hit a bump up top, David corrected it, then it hit a diagonal bump, causing the back tires to come off the ground, throwing the car sideways and into the wall. The car slid sideways to a 4.79@162. I can only imagine what it would have ran if it would have stayed straight:)
Car left lazy on that pass. Car went a 4.83@150 pass before with a messed up ignition. They changed the MSD and it did the 4.79. The slower pass was a 1.23 60' and the .79 was with a .28.

Well we got it all fixed and back together. The car was in the trailer headed to Houston at 10am this morning. It has a few different colors on it now, but all is straight and ready to roll.
It got all 4 corners. Required, both rear quarter panels, drivers door, both front fenders, hood, nose, rear bumper cover and new front core support from strut towers forward. Also required drivers strut and A-arm, 1 new turbo, exhaust pipe, radiator, and a bunch of other misc stuff.
The chassis and rear suspension, & passenger front suspension didn't move at all, both doors still opened and closed just as it did before (drivers was replaced due to damage. And surprisingly, no broken glass, or hatch missalignment.
