View Full Version : Will steel Wool scratch a windshield?

My truck has over spray on it from work and it's on the windshield and need something to get it off with. Thoughts?

Yes, I would use a razor blade and get to scraping.

Might try the Mr. Clean scrubby thing. It took off some overspray from the wood trim in my house.

You can scrape it off with a razor, or clay it.

I would clay it. I had paint overspray (latex based) on my truck one time and I had to clay the whole thing.

I read where #000 steel wool is used by the auto industry to clean overspray from chrome and glass. I will let you know how it goes. I will also have a blade handy just in case.

You'll be ok with that. Works good on chrome too.

I used to use it back when i worked in a paint and body shop. But that has been 25 years ago. I just could not remeber the specifics. It worked better than anything back then. Blades are more prone to scratch the glass if they dig in. Took some digging to find the specifics of what to use vs what not to use.
