By far one of the most brutal releases I've heard in quite some time. If you like metal, you'll like this, and if you don't, you're a fucking mongoloid. Think Motorhead meets Slayer, meets a Graffix bong. All of their other releases have been great, but do not compare to this one bit.
Best metal release of 2007, period.

High on Fire has always been better than Sleep, in my opinion.

Listened to it on the way in to work this morning. Not really feeling it. Tracks 8 and 11 are ok. Reminded me of Mastodon a little, just not as good. It's hard to describe, but it seemed muffled and runny, I like my metal more crisp and clear. I downloaded three other albums from them that I'll look into later. I hope they're better.

The type of music they employ is supposed to sound like that - just kinda like it's so thick and heavy, it's dripping with ooze, hence the term "Sludge" or "Stoner" or "Doom" or whatever label you wanna throw on it. It's guess it's not everybody's thing, but it sure does make me feel happy.
If you didn't like this one, you probably won't like any other others.

You described it better than I did. I won't bother with the others. You seem to keep up with more music than I ever could. Maybe you could point me in the direction of some things closer to a clean, distinct, jiggy-jiggy wugga, not too heavy on the cookie monster, unless it's intelligible. Am I making any sense?
I know it's satirical, but take Dethklok, I eat that sound up. My cheeks hurt, I smile so big. Probably not the best example, but it's fresh on my mind.

Dl'd it the other day, I've only had a chance to listen to a few songs, but it seems better than blessed black wings to me so far.

"The Art of Partying" by Municipal Waste is a really good cd that was released earlier in the year.
Just check out some of the song titles:
Headbanger Face Rip
The Inebriator
Sadistic Magician
Septic Force
Thrashing Is My Business... And Business Is Good

On second thought, it's nowhere near as good as the new soulja boy.

I'm convinced you look for bands that nobody has heard of or likes and say "This is fucking badass" just because you never have to worry about the band being played on the radio therefore bastardizing it.
But twatever. Just bought Between the Buried and Me's new album. Good. Basically a 65 minute long metal song.

The new btbam isnt all metal, it's them showing they can play any genre of music, and blend it in with their usual music, and still make it sound good.

DITC has grown on me, so I burned The Art Of Self Defense, and I like it more than DITC.

Self Defense was their first one and has a totally different sound than any of their others. Check out the others and see what happens. Be careful with Surrounded by Thieves. The songs are killer, but they are offset by some of the worst production I've ever heard.

Yeah, it is a different sound. I think what I'm digging most is the swampy bass.
