http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070907/ap_on_el_pr/giuliani_immigration"It's not a crime," Giuliani said Friday.
"I know that's very hard for people to understand, but it's not a federal crime."
Guess we know who NOT to elect now.

He has no business running for the republican nomination, he's been a democrat his whole life and is just trying to capitalize on 9/11 in order to get the nomination. But his stance on border security doesn't surprise me considering his law firm is a key player in the NAFTA super highway deal.

Ok, I actually read the whole transcript.
Giuliani was making a technical point about the law. He basically said that our laws hold illegal immigration as a civil matter instead of a criminal matter. If it was a criminal matter, then we would have to put them on trial for violating the law. As a civil matter, it goes to the immigration courts where there is no trial.
So, do you want every illegal immigration case to go in front of a criminal court where it will take up even more of your taxes and maybe even your time as a jurior? Or would you just rather we kick them out of the country?
I no longer support Giuliani for President, even though I respect him. However he isn't wrong on this point....

I was speaking with my brother, we came to the conclusion that illegals should forcibly tattooed with a large identifying mark on the second offense of entering our country illegally. My personal favorite deterrent is forced labor for any illegal caught in our borders. Big industry can purchase the labor cheaply from the government, Pablo or Cho Ming (illegals) gets to work without pay for a couple years as a deterrent, the money that was previously sent out of the US gets to stay in country, everyone is happy, except maybe for Pablo and Cho Ming (again, illegals), which should have entered our country legally instead of running/swimming here.

Ya, Rudy is technically right, but that seems like a cheap way to avoid the problem/issue which is what I see him doing.

No, no. According to that one court ruling, its only illegal to enter the U.S., not to stay in it.

not surprised to see a statement like that coming from him. he's the most socially liberal republican i've ever seen. he needs to change his party affiliation.
and this is being coming an all too common trend of watching politicians minimizing the transgressions by illegal immigrants. it's just going to get worse after seeing that there is a 15% mexican voting bloc out there up for grabs in '08.
