Are they worth a shit? I have always used jl audio in the past and Now that i'm putting together a system for my truck I was thinking of running alpine amps since I already have Alpine type r speakers and a sub in it. I prefer to keep everything the same.
Im not hip to all the amp lingo and what all the numbers are supposed to mean.
I just know my last truck had a jl 300/4 for the door speakers and a 500/1 for the subs and it sounded killer. Looking for what ever is equal to those but from alpine.
Keeping the system all the same is not important. It is better to pick the best radio, speakers, amps, processors, etc from the best manufacturer. The PDX-4.100 and PDX-1-600 are similar to the JL amps.

I will probaly just pick up a couple more jl amps since I know they work good and never had any problems out of my old ones.
Have you messed with a 06 dodge ram?
I want to change out the head unit but thanks to the way some ass clown at chrysler designed the dash it makes it complecated. Also since my truck has siruis from the factory as long as I get a hu thats sirius ready I should be ok right?

There are parts available to swap decks. Your factory sirius tuner will not work with an aftermarket deck but the antenna should.

the PDX amps are bad ass... so small, yet put out plenty of power. JBL's Crown amps are really nice too, but they're rather large

"JL is better than everything"... fuk off, theres plenty of other very good brands
IMHO once you get up to a certain point in amp quality, the only thing that your paying for is name and occasionally reliability. it all just kinda depends on what you are using for your car and what your price range is. i had a MTX 421d tiny ass monoblock amp and that thing punded 2 10's in my truck. i now have a jl 500/1 and am very happy but not 3 times the price happy. and holy shit, 2 type R's in a truck? you plannin on goin def bro? lol, Alpine has a PDX1000 i think it is that is fricken bad ass. digital display, 1000 rms watts, im pretty sure you can even control alot of the settings from certain alpine HUs.
as stated above, you DO NOT have to stay with the same brand (only reason why you would want to is cuz it looks perdier)

I just went with what I know works. Got jl 300/4 and 500/1 amps, bought a jl 10w3 for my box and got a jl clean sweep that way I can just keep my factory radio and keep a nice clean stock apperance.

x2 on the excelon line
you should be happy with your jl setup. the stock radio is also a lot less likely to get your car broken into. and if installed correctly, you shouldnt see any of your other audio.
i put a navigation in my truck. it started off as a $1000 investment. then to protect my $1000 investment i had to spend $150 on tinting and am putting in a $500 alarm. lol... kind of a vicious cycle.
