Well I bought my shotgun from a DFWStangs member here. I already forgot his name. But it was a pistol grip shotgun and while the "COOOOOLL!" factor is there, I can't take it to the gun range like it is.

So I bought an ATI Pistol Grip buttstock and am having the worst time installing it. Has anyone else installed a buttstock before. My bolt is too short, the platform + spacer seems like the original bolt needed to be 10 feet long...its just not working.

I can post pictures if needed....help!

i cannot help you but i was going to buy one of those for my 590. after hearing the trouble that you are having i may pass on that. i wonder if the original bolt would work for the factory stock? i dont know if you have it or not but you might try to locate one of those... let me know how it turns out and pictures are always better when you need help...

Im pretty sure youll need the stock bolt again, I believe its longer than the one in the pistol grip "kit".
I have mine sitting here, but I havent ever swapped them out.(And dont plan on putting the pistol grip on it)

Get yourself a "speedfeed" stock by Mossberg. That's what I have on my 590.
Carries four extra shells inside the stock without them hanging outside.

Thank you Jester. I may take you up on your offer. But here is what I did.

Instead of waiting and tracking down a bolt. I went to home depot, found some 5/16" threaded bolt that is 12 inches long, cut it down to size, put two nuts and one lock washer on and tightened it all up. It works like a charm. But if when I take it to the range and the recoil undoes my work, I will be knocking on Jesters door pleading for his bolt.

I will let you know.

i plan on buying the stock that has a pistol grip as well as a butt stock and get a fore arm with a handle... that way you can shoot around corners and hold the gun... :) did that at a swat tac field one day was kind of cool... not that i will ever do it at home i hope...

What does a pistol grip cost new?

This is probably a dumb question, but why can't you take it to the gun range with a pistol grip?

Its hella hard to shoot a pistol grip shotgun accurately. They fear that a pistol grip shotgun toting teenager is going to come in there and fire wildly around the range and kill bunnies and kittens and explode little babies.

At least I think thats what they think. Maybe they dont want their target hangers getting shot.
