A co-worker of mine wants to sell me his Remington model 742 carbine semi-auto .308 with a older but decent Burris scope. If its all in good condition what is it worth?

$350 - $400 probably.

I would shoot it first. This model has serious feed problems as they got older and earned the reputation as jam-o-matics. If you keep it pristinely clean, they tend to work ok. Also the blue was thin and they had a bad problem with rust. I would not pay over $300 for one in mint condition. The new 7500's are a better buy.

I would definitely chance it for $200. Assuming you want a 308 rifle (good round IMO).

I just bought a remington 700 pss off of gunbroker yesterday in a .308 lol and I was telling him about it and he said I will sell you my .308 for 200 so I told him to bring it to work this morning and its in very nice shape so I bought it. He is a very religeous guy so I doubt he would be trying to sell me a gun that has problems

When I was a teen I thought my dad was gonna break his in half between a big tree Y when we were walking back to deercamp for that very reason. You
don't get a whole lotta chances on east Texas public land.
