Benefits of LCD Vs Projection?

So why should i pay more for a smaller TV for an LCD instead of going with a projection TV? I'm not looking at buying one. I was in the store the other day and saw a 50" projection for the same price as a 32" LCD and got to thinking that i don't really know the difference anymore other than HD looks better than regular

lcd only saves room if your going to mount it on the wall... if not u still have to buy a stand that's as wide as a projection
are you talking about crt projection Lcos proj or DLP projection?
i have a 2001 sony crt projection and it looks great (still!!!)... as i've stated in another thread crt are the only ones that will change format from 480i to 720p to 1080i .... plus u save tons of money...

if you dont care about size or space and still get great quality (oh and save money) go with crt projection
if you need the space get the LCD

well i was thinking DLP but that was only because the TVs i was looking at were a LCD and DLP. space isn't an issue which is why i wanted to know if there was a benefit other than size.

I have a 3-year-old projection set (56" Hitachi), with HD and HDMI, etc. The picture is very nice, and I need to keep it for a while, but I sure like the LCD stuff. The LCD sets have a better picture from any angle in the room, and don't seem to "glare" as badly.

LCDs are thinner obviously and can be wall mounted. Sure the stand has to be as wide as the set but you've got tons of room in front of the set to mount a center channel, Xbox or PS3. Also the 180 degree viewing and the picture looks the same whether sitting or standing.

Projection sets reproduce dark colors better, especially true blacks. With a LCD the best you can get is an extremely dark grey. Doesn't matter to me but A/V freaks have to see that THX logo perfectly when playing their Episode One DVDs.

this is all true. I prefer the dark quality in the projection tv's.

LCD... flat, bright, less energy consuming, more viewing angle. 60K hour bulb life.

Projection...Bulkier, poor viewing angles, cheaper screen to dollar ratio (plus higher resolutions for less) and bulbs that would have to be changed every 3-5 years, depending on use.
