I'm putting a L7 10 in my mega cab and I did't want to change the head unit out . Has anyone had luck with inline converters ? I know there is better sound with a a/m head unit ,but the the damn thieves look out for them also. I didn't know how much sound quality I would loose by using them .

lol if your putting in a L7 then dont expect much SQ at all... im not hating on kicker but i cant stand the way those damn l7s sound... the converter tends to slighty distort the sound. the distortion from the stock HU on top of the distortion of the converter isnt that incredibly high. the average joe cant tell too much at all. just make sure you turn your bass DOWN on your head unit to minimize distortion comming from the head unit. You'll want to turn the bass boost up on the amp and the bass DOWN on the headunit. but like i said if your getting an L7 your obviously not going for total SQ.
if your worried about thieves, get a HU with a removable faceplate, tint the windows, and put a half way decent alarm in your car. you cant see wtf it is, and they are less likely to steal anything if broken into, and the HU aint shit without the faceplate :D

I didn't want to waste all the space behind the seat , so I opted for a ported L7 under the seat , so I hope the SQ won't we terrible I be pushing it with a JL 500/1 .
There are many different quality levels of converters. The cheap ones suck and the expensive ones are great plus some give you sub volume control as well.
Soundgate
Audio Control LC6i
JL Audio cleansweep
etc
