Action Alert: EBay Bans Almost All Firearm Related Items
As one of the companies that legally sold a firearm to the perpetrator of the senseless Virginia Tech shooting, we feel it necessary to voice our opinion on what appears to be the biggest, pushover, anti-American company on the internet today, EBay. EBay appears hell-bent on selling out our basic American values and beliefs with their latest round of firearms related restrictions (restrictions on completely legal products, mind you). According to EBay's Vice President of Trust & Safety, Matt Halprin, law abiding citizens can no longer list barrels, magazines, trigger assemblies and more. It's their choice to do business as they wish, but it is also OUR CHOICE to decide if we want to do business with a so blatantly anti-American company. For them to ram their holier-than-thou opinions and practices down our throats is too much for me to bear especially when they turn a blind eye to less than legal business of which they will gladly accept.
Being the father of three children, I can say it's tempting to order clothing listed on EBay. There are thousands of listings with clothing items for children and adults that are listed as NEW and still with tags on them. I was tempted to order them, but my conscience prohibited me from ordering items that I believe have a VERY high probability to be stolen. As a store owner, I find it reprehensible that this company would so willingly accept money from members who are just fencing stolen goods. I would never be so publicly critical of EBay but since they are now declaring themselves the moral and ethical compass of the marketplace, I feel I have no choice but to call them out as the spineless, anti-American cowards that they are.
So, I say: Matt Halprin. Get a spine!
I urge everyone on our newsletter list to read through the list of items that EBay now bans http://www2.EBay.com/aw/core/200707301000452.html. Understand that they have effectively shut down sales of any part of a Constitutionally protected item and slapped every gun owning American in the face. Read their official statement and see what they are really about.
