just wondering if anyone knows if a HD channel will go through a Tivo box that is not made fr HD. I know you cant record but I just want to watch the HD.. Thinking of getting a plasma

it will play through it, but only via the s-video or composite jacks, so no HD. Now that I think about it, even if the Tivo has component jacks it won't play in HD, I haven't messed with stand alone Tivo boxes in a while, not sure what jacks they have anymore. Either way it won't be in HD :)

you can connect your HD box directly to your tv with an hdmi cable and use a set of the extra outputs from the hd box (composite or svideo) and connect that to your tivo.

that way you can watch hd live, and record non hd programs on the tivo.

that should work unless the box disables outputs

What outputs are supported on the TiVo HD box?

HDMI, Component video, S-video, Composite video, Optical audio, Analog audio.

i can get any and all cables, splitters and what not at work...Im hoping my work does a employee purchase thing soon

just get a DVR through verizon... its only $5 more a month per DVR (you have to have the HD package to be elligible fot the DVR package though)

I don't think whatever your putting in your Tivo thats HD will even have a video output. But thats just a guess, I haven't done it myself.

The HD tivo is $299.
