yea, hes a fuckin douchebag
Wow an AFL-CIO affiliated site bashing a conservative, how original. I don't like Rudy but if anyone screwed those poor firefighters it was their union that didn't strike when they knew their radios were junk.
They were testing new radios up to March 2001 and the fire department rejected them for poor performance and reverted back to analog ones. It's not Rudy's fault that Motorola sent them radios that weren't field tested like their contract dictated, it's also not his fault that a repeater on top of WTC 7 was burned up in the initial attack. 11 of the firefighter families have sued Motorola and NYC for the faulty radios, this is where the story is coming from.
Blaming the mayor for not taking control at the scene? Yeah the mayor should be telling the police and firemen where to deploy. That's like having president Bush giving field commands in Iraq, it doesn't work that way. The most experienced and best trained commanders call the shots and report to the boss, just like it happened.

What a regrettable situation. I agree that if the fire department knew that they had defective equipment (as alleged in the video) then the leaders of the fire department were remiss in their duty by not making an issue out of it. And while I feel for the people that lost family members none of them have had to deal with what rudy had to deal with. I'm not particularly a rudy fan but this union video seems a bit slanted to me.

I don't need a website to show me that guy is a piece of shit....I lived through his reign of horseshit.

definitely interesting, but it's also primarily a smear campaign by the union.
sounds like rudy giuliani was negligent in regards to the issue of the defective radios, but they are actually blaming him for the death of the firefighters. i think that's a little radical considering the real reason 319 firefighters died that day was because of arab terrorists.
however, it does raise an eyebrow regarding his actions following the event.
