I don't think that they care, Mike. They are all 'independently wealthy' and when the bottom of the handbasket falls out, they will simply move to another country. Politicians have ruined this country though. It's already done and will just take awhile for it to become evident.

And Danny, I wish the public in general would begin to get it, but I don't think they ever truly will. It seems to me that we are too far gone down this road to turn back now, as there are just too damned many of them here. And if by some miracle we were able to stop the programs and benefits, does anyone really doubt that the masses of illegals wouldn't just take what they wanted anyways?

Sadly, I don't think it will ever turn around, and I now wonder what the hell I was thinking when I brought my little boys into this mess...

Democracies fall when the people figure out that they can vote themselves money from the government kitty. The politicians may not be directly drafting from the government pot but their decisions are sure made with an eye toward putting money into their own pot (which usually takes money out of the government pot). You can see this with the refusal to deal with illegal immigration; the dems want votes and the republicans want cheap labor, and to hell with any consequences down the road. The taxpayer is left with the bill.

Yes, if America became a pure democracy today the nation would dissolve, since every individual would demand their equal share of entitlements and quickly drain all resources. Presumably that's why we elect (wise :D) representatives....to set priorities for resource allocation. But to those who would blame the Democrats, what did the Republicans do about illegal immigation when they ran Congress for 12 years? NOTHING.......What had Bush done about it in the last 7 years? proposed guest worker bills and backed an anmesty bill.. And who was president when we got our first amnesty bill approved (1986)? Reagan.

No this is not a partisan issue, both parties are equally to blame for this problem. That's why I don't associate with either.
