For those of you who believe the Wall Street Journal is a liberally biased newspaper, this might be of interest to you.
Rupert Murdoch is a staunch conservative and the creator of Fox News. The resulting deal between News Corp and Dow Jones will transfer control of the Wall Street Journal to Rupert Murdoch.
It will be interesting to see the long term disposition of the Wall Street Journal with Murdoch running the show. Supposedly, he has no plans on making any changes. We'll see....

Hopefully he gets rid of some of the goofy writers...otherwise, pretty good paper overall!

I thought this was interesting. I'm surprised at the lack of responses.
He is conservative but the more I read about him the more I think that he sees his publications as money making operations and not soapboxes for political commentary. I think he's going to do whatever makes him the most money.

He sees what is happening in mainstreem media and realizes the profits are the operations with a distinct audience, not the general public at large. A good move for both I think.

He's into money. Money is the one thing biased, non-biased, left, and right, have in common. The love of money. But don't let that deceive you. His soapbox is WAY off to the right.

I'll agree with that statement, although I doubt he has any real political influence at Fox News, because from what I've read, he's much more interested in the money making part of the situation than the politics of media. Although he is pretty darn right wing. I guess that's what it takes when you have cnn and msnbc on the air. :p

Agreed. In business, it makes more sense to go after an unserved market with profit potential than to compete in the market that serves the majority. As there seems to be a majority of news outlets that slant left, with more U.S. citizens moderate or right than left, slanting right would seem to make the most business sense.
(In the interest of fairness, adding the moderates to either the right or left gives them the majority over the other. A completely unbiased news outlet would have the greatest numerical advantage, but I don't think that will happen.)
