you crash your car at the track. are you responsible for the damages caused to the track and any of their equipment?

I didn't have to pay for anything..
(edit - other than fixing my car)
(edit-edit, if you involve another racer? I don't know that one. I think it's up to both parties to resolve it)

what if the track is to blame, for example the shortridge/estner accident last friday?

I didn't give Redline shit when I hit the wall out there. I see on a picture they finally fixed it after 4 years.

Not sure on that one, but in their defense, you can't see everything.

Not that they did or did not check, but if they have no reason to believe there was something in the lane in the first place- why would they check it?
The only thing you could possibly have seen was Matt Jones get a lil sideways when he hit the shoots but that far down the track and that dark most people don't watch the cars after the ET pops up etc.

The fine print also says you take all responsibility for any thing that occurs. This means anything that happens you assume liability for yourself. Your car- you fix it, your body- better have medical.
There has been many high profile crashes and a few lawsuits over some. Track has always won so far.

they only make the driver of the vehicle entering the gates sign. What if the driver of the race car is in the passenger seat and doesn't sign anything. Or what if a spectator got hit in the pits?

As the driver you accept liablity. A spectator is a little different, but they to must assume reasonable liablity. They would have to prove gross indifference for safety first. Least that is the way it worked in the past. Remember the big Nascar crash with car parts flying in the stands?
