i bought some remington 12 gauge 9 shot shells at wal mart the other day. so does that mean its a buck shot, or bird shot? the box never said

i dont even shoot 9 shot at clays. it is more suited for quail and other small game birds.

For Dove Hunting you Want 8 Shot
For Rabbits and other small game of that sort you Want 6 Shot
For Deer (Home Defense) you want 00 or 000 Shot
Of course there are always slugs, but you have to be careful on the type of choke you have for that.

9 target/clays - (very small)
7/8 dove/quail
4/6 duck/pheasant
2 geese
you'll also see 1/2 sizes like 7 1/2.
#2 buckshot is not the same as #2 shot.
