I have Hughes net satelite internet and noticed about 10pm last night that my browsing speed was super slow. I check it out again this morning and the same thing, I called tech support and they said that I exceeded my download limit for the day. I asked him what the limit was and he said 400mb. This satelite internet is way overpriced ($69.00 a month) and on top of that they set a 400mb limit. Jesus Christ these guys have got me bent over... I guess that's what I get for living out in the sticks and not wanting to use dial-up.

Do the cable/DSL service providers set a daily download limit?????

Yes and no. They will tell you that you have unlimited, but dont get caught downloading TO much or they will question the validity of the usage. Say you download a couple of terrabytes in a months, be prepared to be accused of downloading illegal material :)

Terabytes will get you in trouble with any service but I've done 100+ gigs in a month on SBC DSL and didn't have any problems. Then again if you've that much data moving around you sure as hell don't need to be using consumer class DSL or cable.

That is true. I got banned from Comcast for downloading a sum over 400gigs in one month.

I can do 10 gigs in a matter of hours.

SBC has YET to say anything about us RAPING the network.

Are you sure he didn't just have an unsecured wireless router?

Yeah, you can't, uncap a cable modem, its limited from the upstream.

HOWEVER, a long time ago it was reversed, but that was back in like 97-98.

I thought it was BS too. Hell, between vids people send me through email, checking out vids on here, on other forum sites, on youtube, and of course the occasional pRon vid or 4... I probably come close to 400mb on some days. I got to thinking, and I did download 4 Ghostrider vids over Friday and Saturday that totaled 2.5gigs, that's probably what did it. I guess I need to keep track of this shit now.
