Flat Coax Cables???

Does anyone have experience using these flat coax wires? Basically you have a flat strip of wiring and then two boxes on either side to fit a normal coax cable into. I'm trying to run it under some extremely thin carpet. Think like a dorm room and having the cable under the rug would be a huge ripple in the middle of the room.

I've been reading around on the internet about these, but am not sure about the transfer and if it gets too choppy or give a lesser quality after 20ft of this and if any sort of pressure on the cable (i.e. rug weight) is going to affect it in any way.

If you have used this or seen it in use, I would love to hear about it so I can figure something out and where the best place to get it is.

I knew a guy that had one going over the tracks of a sliding patio door. His picture looked fine. Wasn't a very long run though. I don't think you will notice any real picture loss however. How worried can you be anyway if you are using coax? :p

Yea, I've seen the ones for a sliding door/window....this is a little different though and not sure where to get it for the most part. I'm thinking it won't have much of a different, more curious about where to get it and if the brand matters

Frankly I would never use it. I check them out out of curiousity one day and I don't see how it can be good. Shielding is vital in coax, hence the quad shielded coax and all that. Obviously there is a ton of shielding missing from the flat cable.

The other problem is it's still normal cable size on both ends. So, hopefully you're just using it to run under a door or something.

Also the ones I looked at did not have connectors on the end that spun. SO>...assuming you can't turn the devices you're connecting to...I'm not sure how you'll connect the cable with twisting it up. Granted, you could be just hooking it to a barrel connector...

I just think those cables are poorly designed and a bad idea. Don't plan to do high end video/tv/etc stuff with those, they will be the weak point for your center.

you'll be fine with flat cable in your dorm room

I have about a foot of it in the crack of my front door to run the cable from the atenna to the box. Picture is still very good, but it is about a foot long. I doubt the pressure from the carpet will affect it, mine gets smashed by the door and no problems
