Not the best brands in the world but I've got nearly the same enclosure, just times 3. Works with my Diamonds just fine. Make sure you've got a subsonic filter though or that sub will be toast in a few days.

I have a Toby 12" Marshall bandpass box. Toby is the guy in FTW that makes his own speakers and boxes. Very good stuff.

Link (http://www.toby.com/CARAUDIO/carbpboxes.htm)

Its kinda big but the best sound you can get for one 12"

If you are using something close to what you have in the links, then all will be fine. Simple enclosure. Hopefully you will be using a better woofer if you have your own.

Toby was the man back in 1987! I remember we shoehorned a Ranger box into an Olds Cutlass back in high school and that thing hit hard! It was good for 135 db easy:) Of course that isn't anything by today's standards where a 12" woofer in a sealed box is good for 140+ with decent power.

stay with the ported box, you will at least hit lower. But understand you will be getting what your paying for. for a cheap setup, with ok bass youll be ok. But dont expect to hammer your neighbor, :)...

i doubt the amp you are using has a subsonic filter on it, if it doesnt you will have no way to cutoff or control the really low Hz. Its good to have a subsonic filter or you could just toast your woofer...Youll get boom, boom, boom, and then NO Boom, lol....Just be on the cautious side if i were you.

Hell yeah, had a Ranger box in the cab of my ranger and that square hole could rip a piece of construction paper no prob. Had to ride with my seat in a uncofortable position though :D Damm thing was badass. He even bought my old speakers and box from me, thats service!

the gain on the amp will most likely never see 50%, so i have no intentions on rattling the neighbors windows. since i am no pro, i normal turn the volume up with the amp at min, till the rest of the speakers are at there loudest and still sound good, then turn the gain up to get a good balance.

It is kind of like a crossover but cancels out lower frequencies. If you ever listen to music that plays lower than the ported box is tuned to then it'll make the woofer pretty much rip itself apart.

Their Class D amps have one but it doesn't look like that one does. Just don't play anything with tons of low bass and you "might" be okay.

i already blew a sub cuz i wasnt given the corrent port tune and was too lazy to figure it out... lol, now i take the extra 30 minutes...

lets break down your box choices....

Sealed - Tight, responsive, accurate enclosure. The most commonly used box and rightfully so. They take up the leaste amount of space but require much more power from your amp to push it. sounds best for rock, techno/dance music, country

Vented - Twice as loud as sealed boxes, boomy, not as tight and accurate but still decent to good sound depending on how it's built/tuned. Now what most people dont' realize is that a vent (port) is a natural crossover. You have to tune the port to the box and the sub to work best. commonly used for rap

Bandpass - a combination of the sealed and ported box... this box has the most range and flexibility as far as frequency goes. has good sound quality and good SPL at the same time. the only bad thing is these things can be HUGE and if made by an inexperienced person, WILL sound shitty and/or damage the sub.

do some research on the internet to find the recommended box volume for your sub and find a box that is closest to it. MOST SUBS are engineered specificaly for sealed or ported boxes and sound best in the box they were made for. IMHO, i prefer bandpass when possible, but when not, sealed over ported. sealed takes a little more power but i tend to like to have the range because i listen to a broad range of music...

Sealed - Tight, responsive, accurate enclosure. The most commonly used box and rightfully so. They take up the leaste amount of space but require much more power from your amp to push it. sounds best for rock, techno/dance music, country will play the widest frequency range and does not require an infrasonic filter

Now what most people dont' realize is that a vent (port) is a natural crossover. You have to tune the port to the box and the sub to work best. commonly used for rap rolls off quickly below the tuning frequency so does not play as low as sealed unless tuned very low-if you are smart, you will use an infrasonic filter

Bandpass - a combination of the sealed and ported box...depends-single reflex-yes , dual reflex-no this box has the most range and flexibility as far as frequency goes. has good sound quality and good SPL at the same time.not really IMO the only bad thing is these things can be HUGE and if made by an inexperienced person, WILL sound shitty and/or damage the sub. has the LEAST range. Bandpass is just that. It only allows a certain range of frequency to pass(play). Output above and below the tuning frequency is usually poor so some music/songs will sound great, and some won't. You can not hear mechanical distortion of the woofer. Both chambers and the vent must be built accurately for the woofer you're using unless you like buying woofers. They are loud at some frequencies but I don't care for them.

I was a diehard sealed guy until I took a leap of faith and went ported. Then, I was tempted to go with a giant box with a ton of port area, but didn't. Had a ported box built exactly to the specs for the woofers and it sounds great. I don't get any port noise and I really don't feel like I sacrificed much SQ (I can always turn it down if it's too boomy for a particular song). The output is impressive, at least to me.

If I absolutley never had the urge anymore to have crushing bass on tap, I'd go sealed again. Takes up less space, and sounds great with everything. But the kid in me still enjoys making some crazy noise on occasion.

Always better to have more than not enough! :D

I'm not going to guarantee anything from Profile working but that piece does have the subsonic filter you need listed as a feature.

ok, power acoustik recommends 1.41 sealed and 2.17 ported tuned to 34hz witha port size od 3.3"x5.5"

on this box, not taking into account for the port which 2'X12.5", the box is 2.3 cubic foot. the port by my math is .2'. so that gets me to the 2.1' needed, how do i know what it is tuned for?

mmm... you really have no way to look at the box and be able to tell what it is tuned at... the only way is to find out from the web site or somehow contact the maker of the box to get them to tell you what the port is tuned to. that crossover would be better than nothing... just make sure it is capable of going to 34hz

i went with a sealed box i picked up from a local car audio shop here in Denton for $40.it was one they had just pulled out of a car that the guy went to 2 12" . all i did was swap boxes and used 12awg wire, and it made a huge difference. with amp at a lower gain, it still hits harder.

Question.

the box is 1.6 or so with the sub installed. i did not put in poly fill or anybatting inside. would i benifit any considering PA recommends 1.4. the insulation mainly helps with smaller boxes, or am i wrong?
