I was playing a game, and the controller lost response. I reset the unit after no luck with the controller, and now there's no video. I currently have the PS3 set through 720P. I tried connecting it with the standard composite cables to see if maybe it reset itself, but no luck. I'm about to blow a fuse from my frustruation.

Halp.

Well, I did a hard reset and it works through the basic yellow/white/red cables, but nothing through HDMI. :(

Oh noos. You resetup the PS3 to do HDMI right and disabled the standard a/v cables?

If so, do you have a dvd player with hdmi and does that work?

Our DVR is HDMI, and that works fine. Perfect picture.

I used the same cable and plug for troubleshooting, no problem.

I did do re-set the PS3 to HDMI, the screen just goes blank. No picture.

Hmm check out the owners manual or playstation.com

really not sure what to tell you other than maybe the hdmi output circuit is broke or what not.

Just got back. Took the PS3 to my neighbors house, slapped it onto his TV and the HDMI works fine. I think it's our TV. Strange thing is, that the HDMI works with our DVR, and all of the HD channels display fine. it's just not working with the PS3.

Silly question - does your TV have one or two HDMI's? What happens when you unplug your DVR from the HDMI and plug the PS3 in that port?

Only one HDMI. The DVR HDMI works with the same cable we use with the PS3. For some reason the TV is not decoding the PS3's signal. All I get is the black no signal screen.

Generic off brand. I need to go get another cable later.

I doubt it's the cable, he said it works between the DVR/TV, just not the PS3/TV. Did you change any settings on the PS3's video output? I thought it was automatic, but I'm not in front of mine to make sure.

I reset the PS3's settings to run through the standard A/V cables. It works fine that way. With HDMI selected, it does not run on my TV..

HDMI cable works with the DVR. Not PS3. (You got that)

The PS3 runs fine on my neighbors TV on HDMI.

Sooo, all I can imagine is that the TV is not decoding the PS3's signal for whatever reason.

Well, did you manually setup your PS3 to display your hdmi to a signal your TV doesn't accept? IE, 1920X1080P, or something, if your tv only accepts 1920x1080i, or 1366x768p or 1280x720p? Long shot, but maybe.

Good guess, but unfortunatley our TV won't display 1080p. 1080i and 720p will display. By default, when I select HDMI, the PS3 sets to 1080i, and from there I usually go to 720p. It's not letting me go directly to 720p.

I'm going to try to hard reset the TV later, if that's an option. I will let you know what happens.

Ill sell you monster component cables for $25.

My ps3 died after about 20 hours of playing on it. I had to send it to Sony and they sent me a refurbished one, then I sold the POS.

Could have loss sync with your TV. I read about that happening to a few people. Do you still have sound? or is it just completely dead?

No sound. Before I lost signal, I attempted to get sound through HDMI and the PS3 would give me an error saying "This device does not support Audio output"

OH, the sound worked with the HDMI when I used the audio connections to Input1

The audio currently works fine with the A/V.
