I couldn't decide whether to put this in the political forum or the video forum; seems more appropriate here. mods move this if you want.

"The only way to build a great nation is for the people to get involved, and take it back...!"

I wonder what Patton would have said about Bush letting Bin Laden go?

He would have said "He never had him you numbskull!" or "Which cave was he hiding in again?" or simply "My God man, get a grip on reality"

But then, who's to say what the man would have really said in response to such an idiotic muse... :)

No one really wants to do any hard work anymore, they just want to screw people out of everything sideways. Back in the day, people had the decency to let you know first. "You have something we want/need, so we're gonna come get it. Get in our way and become one with the pavement under our boots." What would be so wrong about saying we need to go into Iraq to set up a puppet government that will sell us oil cheaper than anyone else and forestall us from further using our own reserves?

We already did that, right after WWII. Those puppet governments were overthrown in the 70's.

Actually he would have said something like, why the hell did we stop in Baghdad? Tehran is only a couple of days away by tank. Might as well take out those damned Syrians and Lebanese while we're at it.

<-- distant relative of the great General.

I wonder what Patton would have said about Clinton letting Bin Laden go after the first incident?

Right, it's hard to think straight when a fat chick is going down on you. At least Bush sent in enough troops to fight his guards, Clinton didn't do anything but stain that blue dress.

Clinton was shooting at the wrong target.

I wonder what kind of ass kicking he woulkd give Carter for setting him up with an organization in the first place?

Not that I am a fan of Clinton but if we're pointing fingers why didn't Bush I roll us into Baghdadin 1991? The answer is "politics" so it is no one individuals fault; however, I will accept the idea of it being multiple bad decisions dating all the way back to the 70's starting with Carter then on to Reagan, Bush I, Clinton and now Bush II. Party affiliation aside, our government as well as others like England, Germany, France, etc failed to make good decisions that has us in the pickle we are in now on a global aspect

Good speech. I truly wish we have people in place today that would make such speeches.

Because unlike his son, he was at least sage enough to realize and acknowledge there was no viable exit strategy.

George H. W. Bush wrote in his book "A World Transformed" that stopping the first Gulf War short of Baghdad was the right decision because ". We would have been forced to occupy Baghdad and, in effect, rule Iraq. The coalition would instantly have collapsed, the Arabs deserting it in anger and other allies pulling out as well. Under the circumstances, there was no viable "exit strategy".

Hmm....kind of scary how prophetic that was. Kind of like the situation had been thoroughly analyzed prior to March '03.
