i recently had to replace my ten year old JL's because i took the car to a body shop after a wreck and got it back with them popping. if not for that, i think they would still be thumping right now.

Speakers are like tires. They are going to wear out over time and the more you abuse them, the more you'll have to buy. On woofers that old, usually the foam surround rots out. W1v2 and W3v3 use rubber surrounds so you should see longer life and both sound better than older product.

My Diamond D3s are 4 years old now. They are now in their 3rd vehicle:)

My Type Rs are about 6 months in use right now.

I had some cheap JL 10w0s for several years, handling more than rated power and a shit ton of abuse. They were even used when I bought them.

ALWAYS disable your audio system before turning in your car for work!! I usually pull the fuse(s). That said, I've gotten 7 years out of some JL's, and 5+ with some MTX's.

bought some JL 10W0's about 98' or so and just had to replace them. The ring around the edge of rotted and came apart.
