would not running a filter cause the carb to puke all the fuel out through the bowl overflow tube? i know i need to go grab a filter, but i just put it all together without to see if i had any leaks and it just leaks straight out the tube on the bottom of the bowl. i figure its because the carb doesnt want a straight flow of fuel straight into the the carb and would rather pull the fuel through the filter.
on a second note, who would have a tiny ass fuel filter (az didnt have it)

If I understand what you're saying, when the gas is turned on
it's running/pouring out of the overflow tube at the bottom of the carb?
If so, this usually indicates your floats are stuck. First firmly tap the bottom of
the carb bowl w/ a screwdriver handle. If that doesn't work, pull the carb,
unscrew the bowl and check the float.
Good luck.

no no no no no
there's junk in the needle and seat. pull it apart and install a inline fuel filter.
my pitbike was getting tiny shavings from the gas cap or inside of the tank and it was clogging the needle and seat.

Junk in the carb is going to keep the bike from starting and running, not puking gas out of the overflow tube.
And if there is "junk," it'll be clogging the carb's jets, not the needle...lol.

Ok. When there's junk between the needle and the seat, the needle can't fit in the seat and gas leaks through. Once the level is too high in the bowl, the overflow tube dumps it out thru the bottom.
I've been all over and under these pitbikes, and i promise it's not a float level issue if it just started happening after the bike was running right.
I'll betcha 5 bucks that it's junk in there. :)

The carb on pit bikes gets it's fuel from the tank being over the carb and gravity fills the bowl with fuel. The carb dosn't suck the fuel from the tank. Lawn mower shops and sometimes Ace or Home Depot has a tiny filter in the lawnmower stuff.
It really depends on the line size you have. Some bikes have a filter screen in the fuel shutoff at the bottom of the tank.

update: i pulled everything apart, the carb all the way down, soaked everything in carb cleaner and was very clean with everything, pulled the float and cleaned everything, pulled needles and jets, cleaned everything, installed inline filter, started it, reved it, fuel started pouring out again...
i hate this!

btw, what kind of gains can be seen with an aftermarket carb? anything else to get that compliments the carb?

okay...can you link me to what you bought? i was thinking about doing that and a much smaller rear sprocket, maybe 35 tooth or something and probably a street tire for at least the back, it is fun to do wheelies on this, but it just feels like the gearing is way too short and the powerband is real short right now.
i want to do some stunts on it, and i can ride out a staggered stand up pretty good, but feels like the bike could do a lot more to help me out...

i think it was like that one, but mine has more hoses and tunability than that one. how many cc is your pitbike?
Still got the gas issue? Check out thumpertalk and search for float adjustment. Take the bowl off with the gas line still on and move the float by hand. If it stops pouring gas when you have the floats all the way up you need to adjust the float position. If its not the float position you got a problem with the rubber float needle.

mine is a 110cc...
i will probably end up just buying a new carb as i would like the added performance anyways. do i need a new intake and airfilter as well?
