Didn't get any first hand reviews. They are still used and talked about over on caraudio.com, BUT the boner for them has subsided and has passed from them to Fi BTLs and a few other "internet dealers only" brands. That kind of shifting in fan base and the fact that you can't find them in a shop somewhere makes me leary. I still haven't heard their stuff for myself, nor do I personally know of anyone locally using them. Why not be our guinea pig? lol
BTW, interesting reading that old thread. I was pretty stuck on staying sealed, but I ended up going ported with the Type Rs and I don't regret it. I'm sure one day I'll go for more of a purely SQ setup and downsize the woofers and go sealed again, but for now it sounds okay and freaking pounds. I still don't have a center channel. :(

I'll be the guinea pig then. Eh why not...
Buddy is selling his stuff so I might pick it up tomorrow. It's in a tuned ported box so it shouldn't be all too bad.
If it's not enough after a while i'll just upgrade - no biggy :)

I used to think that buying from an internet only company wasn't a good thing to take a chance on. I purchased my monitors(home theater) from an internet only company, and it has been the best decision I've made yet. I spent a lot of time any money driving around and researching different companies, and finally decided on a set from an internet only company. I was a little nervous, but it worked out for me in the end.
This doesn't have anything to do with your question really. Just thought I'd share :D
Sweet! Let us know how you like it.

Cool man. I'm not an expert or anything but I'll help if I can. I'll be at Autosound Saturday morning, btw, if you happen to be nearby and want to check out my setup or whatever.

I will be there right at 9 when they open so I can just wait on it. Just getting some stuff tweaked on the alarm.

Re= "used" to be good. When it was hand made in AMERICA!. Scott left and decided to form Fi Car audio=BTL's, SSD's, BL's, which are very good subwoofers IMO.
Now Scott has partnered up with AA(Ascendant Audio) and done some reshaping there.
Summary- Resonant Engineering is not as good as it used to be, it is mostly just a name now. For the same price of some xxx you can get a much better product.

No offense on the SX, but they arent that loud. what are you looking for goal wise?
Sq or Spl? Or a little mix of both?
Whats the box going into? and what does it look like?

Is this the equipment that being sold in the classified section with the jl audio 500/1 amp. If so that amp is a little too small for that sub. The SX is rated at 1000 continuos power, while that amp is 500 RMS into any ohm load.
If you decide you don't want it let me know I was thinking about picking the sub up myself and I don't want to step on your toes since you posted up asking about it.

Sq, Spl - I have no idea... just looking for a decent system.
I spoke with EW at autosound and priced up some stuff.. 2 JL 10s and an alpine amp pushing the subs and fronts...
But if i can get away with somethin cheaper I dont mind. I just don't want a crappy system.

Cars back seats do not fold down, but the car has a "ski pass". I'd have to cut the rivets out to do that and I heard it doesn't even sound that well with it open.
EW said the best thing for this type of car would be to take out the back speakers to have the sound coming out of the trunk and just upgrade my fronts with something badass...

How are the Fis? How about Rainbow?
Looking for SQ over insanely loud, ghetto blasters.

I've never personally used/heard them, so I can't rightfully say either way. Lots and lots of guys online praise the Rainbow components, but I wonder if half of them have even heard them first hand or compared them to anything else of quality.
Same thing with Fi. They get a lot of praise. I do like that you can add options to their subs depending on your budget and goals. I believe the Q is their SQ sub and the BTL is their SPL sub.
