Which type of HD tv is best suited for a room with a lot of windows/natural light? We have the Samsung 61 DLP right now, and during the mid afternoon/evening, the sun hits it and it is hard to see the full picture in certain seating positions in the living room.

Are plasma TV's better for the well light rooms? The light is not directly hitting the TV, the shutters/blinds are closed, but the light still makes the screen hard to see. In the morning/night, it looks great.

Don't want a projector/screen type, and don't want a big tv like the Mitsubishi rear projection we had before this one, would like it to be as thin as possible to save space. 55" or larger, 70" max size.

The screen on the Plasma's are glass. You will get a lot of reflections from a glass screen. I wouldn't go this route unless you could block the light.....then you should probably just keep your DLP if you could block the light :D

If you're wanting something thin, LCD might be your best bet.

Rob, let me know if you decide to sell the 61" you have now. I'm in the market for another big screen. I've been drooling over the Mitsu 73" 1080p DLP, but hate to drop 4 large on a TV.

You don't have to drop $4k for that TV, Jluv.

I figure with stand and everything. I have found it for around $3,500.

Do tell, though.

This is the one I have been looking at:

I'd love to have the Diamond, but it's quite a bit more.

Give me some time tonight, I almost bought that TV new for $2400, about 1.5 months ago.

Really no point in the diamond, besides perhaps more aesthetically (sp?) pleasing. Kinda looks cheap to me.

Also, not a lot of point in the 73, because it's got the 150wt bulb, however you can get the newer line (733/734) with the 180 wt bulb and hdmi v1.3, for much less than the $2400 mark I just quoted. Now, that's on a 65" - which the picture will be much cleaner at that size, anyways..

Hmmm... same model and everything? I saw an older version that was around that price. I can't remember the differences. Does the plain one upconvert 1080i to 1080p like the Diamond does, or is that even legit/worth it? I have a 65" now and really want to go bigger without doing a projector. I also have really enjoyed my Mitsubishi, and I like the way their TVs look. I think they make a version of the 73" with the better bulb and stuff, too, but I think it's more like $5k. I dunno. I know you know your stuff with TVs, so any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Does it come in black? I despise silver electronics. Nevermind, it's more than I'm willing to spend on a TV anyway. Thanks though!

Doesn't come in black, that grey border is actually transparent. They must of taken the pic with a gret back drop.

I'm sure it will soon come in black though, the new SXRD's are now black and not silver.

go plasma. if you buy a current panel you your anti-glare technology is much better. plasma's are bright enough to drive through glare as well.buy dlp if you want to buy lamps(the led dlp's will be here in a year). and lcd beats plasma in resolution for the money but sunlight will completley wash the screen.

if you want i can get prices on pioneer elite, runco, hitachi director series. i only deal in '' high end'' but i can give you the most competitve pricing for these models around.i also carry mcintosh, anthem, mark levinson, paradigm, definitive technology, proceed, niles ics, crestron, yamaha, marantz, tivoli, blah, blah.

Just put some glare film on your windows and call it a day. They sell it at Lowes I picked up some today. Didn't work for me since my windows are bigger then the film and I don't want a seam to show. I'll go back up there tomorrow and see if they offer a larger size that I can use.
