I want to know what everyone is wearing. I have gone down twice in HJC helmets. Both did a great job, but I have a re-occurring problem with all HJC helmets. I always tend to get a hot spot on the middle of my forehead just under my hairline. As a result I can only ride for an hour or so before it starts to get unbearable. Far the research I have been doing, HJC tends to use a more circular design (interior) on the helmets. This could be the reason for my hot spot. I have been told that Arai tends to be the same and that Shoei uses a more oval type shape. Now I haven't actually been to any stores yet to try on an Arai, Shoei, etc, but I wanted to get everyone's evaluation of their current brain bucket. Thanks guys!!

you need to make it let you have multiple answers. i use a shoei on the street, my old arai to practice at the track and a scorpion the few times i actually get to race (newer date code). i'll be buying scorpions from now on unless i win the lotto or something.

I like my shoei rf1000, nice and snug. Its almost perfect for my head. But it sucks when u want to listen to the mp3. Its just to snug for that. I want to get another one, but I love the way Shark helmet feel. So far it has been the most comfy helmet I have tried on. So once I get the money situation taken care of I will be picking one of those up.

Arai/Shoei are#1 to me in comfort, airflow, noise, and protection IMO.
Scorpion, Suomy, and AGV would be #2 IMO.
I would wear absolutely nothing else to ride a motorcycle with. 8 years of riding/crashing experience here, lost friends, had friends with stories to tell. Better helmet seems to equal a better chance of surviving. Far from scientific, just what I've noticed. You only get one head, might as well do it right. I mean you spent thousands of dollars on a machine that puts your life in danger, in the grand scheme of things, a couple hundred more bucks to save your head ain't shit.
If there is one thing in motorcycling NOT to be cheap about, it's a fucking helmet. If you ride with a piece of shit, don't bitch when you die or have to eat through a tube for the rest of your life.

This is mine, it was the best design they had in stock at the time I bought my bike. I wanted something new but the dark smoke shield really made it look better.

I wear nothing but HJC hats on both the street and in the dirt.
I've got a big ol' melon and their XXL size fits perfect w/ the best helmet comfort I've
ever had. HJC offers great fit and finish at a decent price.
But with that said, I still occasionally get those "hot spots" or rub spots that require stopping and pulling the helmet off as quick as possible. Don't know what causes it but when it does it drives me nuts.
I've never found an Arai or Shoei that fit me right - always seem way too snug, even in their jumbo sizes. And yes, I know a helmet is no good unless it's on nice and tight but I can't ride if it feels like my head's in a freakin' vice.

Haha... this is why I wear Arai as well. I really think that when it comes to some things you get what you pay for. That helmet literally saved his life... doesn't mean a different would not have done the same but I like to stick with what I know works. ;) I just got a new Arai at AMA in Alabama... XS. And I was wearing a M before that! Completely different feel when you're wearing a helmet that actually FITS. :p

When Steven wrecked he landed face first so the entire front of the helmet and the shield were scratched and scraped... but no cracking either.

Until I die I will never understand the logic behind you guys that think that Arai, Shoei, and Suomy are the only helmets worth buying. You guys always throw out the "only the best (most expensive) will protect you" crap. So on another note, only a Volvo or Benz is good enough for your kids? You must be crazy for letting the kids ride in a Mustang.
I've owned helmets for about 15 years and been riding about that long. I wear HJC's exclusively on the road and in the dirt. I've been down hard on the street and off the road. Went down on I-20 in 1995 doing 70mph. Chain reaction 4 car wreck. Came to rest against the back of a sedan. My helmet is what hit the back of the car first. I walked away from that wreck with only minor bruises. And you know what? I wasn't wearing a $700 helmet! Shame on me.
This is what it boils down to for me and I would think that most of you should agree: FIT OF THE HELMET IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYTHING ELSE. I've tried many different Shoei's and they just do not fit my head. HJC's fit me and that's what matters.

My first helmet was an Shoei X9 (I think). I couldn't get a good fit between L and XL. Tried a Arai Signet and it fit perfectly. Been an Arai fan boy ever since. I've tried other brands but I keep coming back ;)

I always prefer the mirrored visors to the smoke ones. They look cooler  although they do not block out as much light as a smoke visor.
