View Full Version : Bike mod questions
I've been surfing a few web forums, and one of the first things I see people with carbed bikes do is rejet. Will this mod really make a huge impact, or is it one of those "seat-of-the-pants," mods, like CAI or a cat-back? Also, I've seen people describe changing a drive sproket on chain drive bikes to a smaller sprocket. Is this the equivalent of adding steeper gears? I feel like I'm in a little over my head on bike mods... What are the first things people usually do? Aside from pipes!

Seems like aside from pipes, on carbed bikes is jet/ tune. You are correct about the sprockets, it just changes the ratio.

Just like with cars...the best bang for the buck is a sprocket change. Drop a tooth in the front, go up a couple teeth in the rear.

to get the most out of a carb bike..all you really need to do is get a jet kit, k&n filter, and a good slip on....youll be good to go and youll love it
and the first thing people do is the pipe, then the filter..then the jet kit...then usually sprockets if they arent happy..but going up in the rear takes away from top end..i know this
<-----------65 tooth rear sprocket here
Are the sprockets hard to change? Could I do that myself with regular tools? I'm cheap.

just incase you were wondering, DONT GO WITH A 50+ tooth rear, thats for stunting and will criple your top end.
go to www.sumofallparts.net give them a call, and order the 520 conversion kit for your bike and probably go -1 in the front +2 or so in the rear, between the better ratio and lighter chain, you will def. notice a difference.
