Well my projector blew up. Not sure what happened. The bulb had been flickering like crazy and they said the fix was to switch it to high power for several hours. I did that no luck. I called Infocus and explained what was going on and they offered me a warranty exchange for $99 and they would ship it out overnite if I let them place an additional $399 as collateral. I said sure thing. Well later this afternoon I pick up my daugher from daycare and we hit up chick-fil-a and come home to watch Monsters Inc and about 20 minutes in there is a loud pop and a small cloud of smoke coming from the side of my projector. I unplug it and get my daughter to her room and get her down for her nap. I call Infocus again to update them on the status of my projector and they tell me to remove the lamp and look for any glass shards. I find none and the say fine just send it in when the new one arrives but if the bulb is defective then I have to supply a new bulb to send with my old projector. So I have my father bringing his projector over so I can test the bulb and see what happens.
We had an infocus at work blow a bulb one time that made a loud, high pitched screech that still makes me shiver just thinking about it. I hope they take care of you.

Mine was just a small pop, but the bulb looks perfect. The guts of my projector don't look too good though. I sure hope that my bulb works in my fathers projector, if not then I'll call up infocus and ask they why a bulb would not make it to the stated 3,000 hours half-life. I've had 3 Infocus projectors so I'm hoping they will take care of me.
And that horrible whine is the color wheel taking a shit. Been there done that.
*No worries, my dad just left and my bulb works just fine in his projector. Now I get a new projector and bulb for $99.*
No the screech was the bulb going. It was painfully loud. The sound only lasted a second, but the pain was for several minutes. I assume it cracked enough to let out the gas inside but didn't shatter.

That sucks, I know when my color wheel was going out it sounded like a bandsaw.
