I think I'd like a cruiser, and so far the list of acceptable bikes is as follows:

HD: Night Train
Street Bob
Nightster

Yamaha: Midnight Warrior

Honda: VTX1800F

Ducati: Monster (maybe)

Triumph: Thruxton
Rocket III (big fat maybe)

I have a Nightrain so i am partial to it. I like the Street Bob but its a dyna platform so its gonna ride a little plusher IMO than a softail. The Nightster is a sportster frame which is way to small for me.

The Warrior is a cool bike.I actually gave it some thoughts before my HD but the Yamaha dealers were assholes and none of them would let me demo it. I took my business elsewhere.

No experience with the Triumphs but the Rocket is one big ass ugly bike.I wouldn't own it.

I'm sure you can't go wrong with a Honda but the VTX's are so generic looking to me and they aren't gonna hold resale like the Harley will.

The monster isn't in the same league as a cruiser.

only one i like out of those is the monster, but its hardly a cruiser. i think for a cruiser the rocket III is the shit!

i guess my opinion is exact opposite of bukcy, lol

get a warrior, i have one and its fun as hell to pull up next to a hd guy and see his face when he realizes its not a hd. even more fun when the same guy revs hevs motor and takes off from a stop as hard as he can. only to be passed by the warrior. plus you will have jap realiabilty.

bucky where all did you go to test ride one?

warrior is a supprisingly fast bike. great stopping power, good motor and a nice amount of torque. i havent ridden any of the others, but i know for a fact the warror is a fun bike to ride.

Three dealers here in Salt Lake City. I don't know about the dealers anymore in Dallas but i remember the Yami dealer on Hwy 10 would never allow demo's.

Its funny because the Harley, Victory, and Triumph dealers all allow demo's with a valid MC license on bikes even more money than the Yamaha. If i am about to drop 15k on a bike i damn sure am gonna ride it first.

Which reminds me...check out the Victory 8-ball also. That was a pretty cool bike for the money.

if you would have came to my shop, we had a warrior for demo for a couple months(i remember you looking at bikes awhile ago), hell i would have let you ride mine around the block.

funny you mention YOT cause i just we there to get my warrior inspected(couldnt wait to go to work cause i needed to get the registration done today too) those guys cant even do inspections right now, probably cause they got caught doing something stupid.

They were a very shady dealer.I don't know about now but they screwed me back in 2003 on a TL1000. I wouldn't go to that shop if it was the last dealer left.
I probably would have taken you up on the demo ride if i had been in town back then.

I've never had a bike before, and I'm not liscensed yet. I plan on taking the mc safety course before I get my liscense or my bike. I have a buddy that will lend me a V-Rod, and to be honest, that kind of scares the shit out of me. Anyway, this purchase is at least 6 months off, so I'd like to do some homework before I buy it. Right now, I'm leaning toward the Triumph Bonneville Sixty8 Revolver Black. I just love the way they look.

If it was my first bike I think I would go for the Nightster XL 1200N out of that bunch. Looks and sounds great fantastic! I havent riden one yet but theres a guy that just got one (all flat black, and mini ape hangers) down the road and for a cruiser I likey.

Yeah, I think it's the little triumph, or the little HD. It's going to come down to prices, comfort levels, and style. So far, the triumph is in the lead with style and price beating the HD into the ground. On to the test rides!

Why not and M109? That's a bad ass crusier if you ask me.

"Boulevard" is the gayest possible name for a cruiser, and the headlight on that thing looks like an electric razor. No damn way.

I'm a sportbike guy and know lots about them. Sportbikes are about all I know. I'm also a Honda sack rider. My opinion is not an experienced one on this subject, but that bike is a BAD bitch :D

X2

looked at a warrior, just did not care for the water heater for an exhuast pipe.

other than the v-rod (too much $ for me ) the 109r won me over....( p.s. 109r owners dont call it a "boulevard"

I have the Nightster and really enjoy it. It looks like an old school bobber with new technology, and priced right. I have an all black one.

hell yea, one of these days I will own one. :D But not right now.

My buddy had a VTX1300 and that bike was pretty sweet. ran pretty good to even with a 350lb guy on it. But that bike got totaled out

Looks like it's gonna be a black bonneville or T100 with the revolver seat and the closed circuit muffler from triumph. I checked around, and a lot of people were rejetting their carbs first thing, and changing the drive sprocket to one with, "one less tooth." Why?

nightsters are hot shit... and a really good bike to learn on, a buddy of mine has one in the flat black, the only thing i dont like are the mid controls b/c im 6"1 and i feel like my knees are over my head, but... they do make a forward control kit and its relativly inexpensive...

I was in the same boat as you (never ridden before not even dirt bikes when i was a kid) and i got my MC license and went out and bought an 883 custom and i love it, its really not that much slower than a 1200 but if i could do it again id probably splurge and get the 1200 or the nightster and put forward controls on it.

just my .02 cents let us know what you decide

hey man, my friend works at a Yamaha dealership in FT. Worth, if you want, send me a PM and I'll give you the name of the shop, and his name. Just tell him that I sent you up there and he'll hook you up.

when the '08s come out, i'm going to get a harley davidson deluxe...most likely in black pearl. i just love the looks of the old looking bike. check out the pics at the hd site; just hover over "softail" and click on the deluxe.

Here's my .02:

Warrior
VTX
Night Rod

I like the low slung cruisers for the massive power and the low slung look. I have ridden the VTX and it's real quick for a bike it's size. The only one I haven't ridden is the Warrior. Used to have a Yamaha Vstar 1100 and dependability was great. The two friends I have with the Vrod and the VTX have been pleased with those as well.
