198hp at the crank
1340cc
titanium valves
15 lbs lighter
dual injectors on the throttle bodies like the gix 1k
same motor with more displacement and lots of titanium

"just spoke to my freind that just got out of a meeting in vegas and its true this is the 2008 hayabusa 1340cc 198hp @ the crank!! new swingarm, same frame and motor, radial brakes, new dash, 3 pos map selction..etc $11.789k msrp.....no bullshit. THIS IS IT! colors are blk/orange...black/blue....black/charcoal"

Sounds good to me :)

Far as the goods, looks like it has a nice baseline.

Cosmetics, w/ the last gen tail, a proper and less complicated exhaust, !mirrors, maybe few other odd's n ends, I think i'd look just fine; esp. w/ a small stretch and lowering.

I was thinking the same thing about the blue, but overall I think it looks pretty damn fugly. I have never really been a fan of Busa's, ZX-12's, and ZX-14's anyways. I think the old Busa looks better though.

Going on a decade without a major overhaul. Also looks like the 600s and 750s will remain to be yet another carry-over model which is a big mistake but will probably sit in the top 3 of next year's lightweight comparo. Unless they have something in development to be released in October/November :)

Well they are designed to be different in looks. I like them, but agree that the older models look better. But that color is awesome. Never seen that color of blue on a bike. I wonder if they will use it on the GXRS.

So if you wanna go drag racing you should buy a 600cc stunt bike? Come on man. Different shit for different people. Not everyone wants to drag and not everyone wants to ride a standup down 121.

Not to get into ya'lls argument (cause I don't really care), but imo I would rather have a ZX-10R or another litre bike for drag racing. Extended swingarm n shit of course.

I agree the new 1000cc bikes are quick but there is no length to tuck. I'm 6'5" and I have raced both just my preference. But the liter bikes are quick and light, but better for a short guy.

I can see that, I'm 6'2 and am just short enough for my R6. Another inch and I think I might just be too tall. :D

I wondered when they were going to do something with that 9 year old engine design lol. since '05 the suzuki and kawi 1000's have had about 10 horse on a stock hayabusa. ;)

I'm still wondering why it's "only" 198HP too. That's with 1340cc's too. Aren't the 998/999cc bikes making 180-185? I'd think with 35% more displacement, they'd make at least 15-20% more power? I was expecting 210-215HP to be honest. :(

Im sure its a pipe and tune away. No telling what insurance companies would think about a 200+hp sportbike :)

I'm sure the exhuast is very restrictive to past the noise laws. A full system and commander and the bike will probably pick up a ton of power. Look how big both the cans are.

no, the new 1000's will make about 172-173 on an engine dyno, a haybusa bone stock on the same dyno made 164. Both of which are bone stock with a full M-4 pipe because we kinda have a little to do with Richard's pipe development, lol. The problem with all street bikes is to get to their full potential the rev limiters need to be raised which is getting harder and harder to do. To make 200hp with a true 1300cc's, you have to turn them almost 11,500 with realistically possible VE's, and this is with a Motec, now the same engine will make 212 or so at 13,700 but it is far from stock, (lots of head work on the hayabusa exhaust, camshafts, J&E's, carrillos etc.) $9K engines when we are finished without electronics, they are also only good for about 6 hours tracktime before they need rod and main bearings.

Unfortunately dynojet has taken rear wheel numbers and kept adding on corrections till they equal more than what they make on the superflow out of the bike, lol. However, kid's like the numbers and dynojet dyno's are cheap so they are the golden rule. We use ours for storage.

Displacement has very little to do with the peak hp numbers you read......that is all cylinder head, the displacement decides when in the rpm range the target power you have enough air for can be made.

Even at 1340cc's i bet they are going to have to turn the stock rev-limiter to 10,800 or more to get to 198 hp. Or there will be an * that states in the fine print that the 198 hp is with 5% ram air affect or some bullshit like that.
