Just like the 'Tank' thread, the Cowboys have been rumored to be snooping around this whole LJ/Chiefs holdout deal.

Obviously this would have to be a trade here as he's still got one year left on his contract. Honestly, I think it would take either Julius Jones and Dallas' 1st round pick through Cleveland or Marion Barber and Dallas' 1st round pick to pull this off.

I'd say that would be a hell of a deal if the Cowboys could pull that off because they have not had a great power back since Emmitt was in his prime years and that has hurt their offense to a significant degree.

Johnson is a proven commodity by posting two straight 1,700+ yard seasons in a much tougher AFC and is very fresh considering the fact he hasn't even touched the ball 900 times (892 to be exact) in 3 seasons worth of play.

It would be a pretty steep price to get him and obviously he wants LT type money, but I think that would be the least of the hurdles with the way Jerry Jones spends money.

I say do it because I really don't see anyone in this upcoming draft that the Cowboys could draft, RB wise, and Julius Jones really has not panned out to be what the Cowboys thought he could have been.

Thoughts?

I think it would be awesome. However, I don't think its going to happen...

But that would be oh so sweet.

I don't see that happening. And there hasn't been much said about it up here!

Won't happen, Cowboys will probably just use Clevelands 1st round pick next year on McFadden. Trade Jones, and keep Barber III as thier other back keeping with the two back scheme.

How are the Cowboys on the cap? Doesn't seem as if they could afford Johnson to me without ditching more than Marion Barber or Julius Jones.

They might as well just give the pick away if they think about picking McFadden. They had a chance to trade Julius Jones away during the draft as several teams were looking for a RB. Tennessee, Green Bay, and Buffalo were all looking for RB's, but I guess the Cowboys never recieved an offer that they thought would allow them to replace Julius Jones. They certainly are not going to hand the job over to Marion Barber.

The Cowboys are $18.9 million below the $109 million cap as of March 2, 2007

no need for him..

Seeing as how last year was the first time Dallas has had a 1,000+ yard rusher since Emmitt Smith's 1,021 yard 2001-2002 season, I'd say it is a pretty glaring need.
