how much are you looking to spend on a screen and what kind of screen do you want, fixed or a pull down. I have made a "few" of fixed position screens in the past and can give you some insight into buliding one.

just go get some thickish white cloth and anything you want to frame it that goes with what you want it to look like, the options are limitless. They are easy to make with a little practice so just take your time.

What projector did you go with? Carada has some nice and reasonable priced screens. Have them send you some samples so you can see which material looks best with your projector. Or you can make one yourself out of blackout cloth and some paint, which is what I did.

i went with one of the benq hd projectors. i have the model number at home. those of you that have made your own do you like it better? I would assume making your own would make it easier to do exactly what you want it to as opposed to having extra space or anything like that left over.

After getting the screen materials from Carada and comparing it to my painted screen I'm deadset on getting a Carada screen in high contrast grey. They will let you exchange within 30 days if you decide you would rather have the a different screen material.

Plus, isn't that the company that saves a sample of your screen in an air tight tube so If it ever fades or gets damaged they replace it for free with the EXACT same material and color?

I can't remember the company name, but I know they are expensive.

Carada makes a great Screen, I sell the Stewart Film screens which are really pricey and I also sell Screen Innovations that are a great screen for 1/3 of the price with a lifetime warranty. I'm putting in a 100" Screen Innovations screen in my house, we have one on display and I really enjoy it. I've been doing this now for 8 years and have sold everything from Dalite, draper, stewart, carada, and the best value with picture quality is the Screen Innovations.

I always thought that screen innovations was know for an very expensive clone of the sony chromavue screen that you could use even with plenty of ambient lighting.

I'm having a house built. It has a media room without windows (it gets really dark). What type of 100" screen and projector combo should I use? I am new to all of this. I'm broke because of the house. But I've talked the wife into getting a projector and screen if the price is right. Thanks in advance.

Lots of options out there. The determining factors will be DLP or LCD and resolution.
