Did you see ESPN report that Kevin Durant couldn't even bench 185?

Maybe some Colleyville Jr High kids can give him some weight training tips, lmgdao.

He's not much of a power player but the kid can still ball.. i honestly dont know why they are blowing it up?

Didnt Tayshawn Prince have the same problem with lifting 185?

Either way he's going to be a great player in the NBA and some team will make him actually start lifting.

yeh, i would never draft him. i dont care what he did his only year in NCAA. i mean not benching 185pds erases everything in my mind.. i mean if he has to take on middlelinebackers and the d-lineman he is so screwed, ohh wait wrong sport! he will still go second. means little to nothing, he will get stronger.

not only could he not bench 185, but he is just plain scrawny looking. I am curious how his game is going to translate into the NBA since the NBA is becoming more and more physical. I don't see how he is going to be able to guard anyone and I think for a while he is going to get pushed around like a rag doll. He does have game, but with that physical size and his lack of strength, it might take a while for him to come around to NBA standards.

He will not be guarding big guys down low thats for sure. He is a good help side defender due to his length. He can shoot from all over and take it to the basket; I think he will be tough to defend.

But honestly how hard is it to bench 185?
Did he ever lift in HS or College?

I wonder what Steve Nash benches. It really doesn't mean shit, imo.

I am 6 at 200 lbs currently I don't bench over 170 due to having my shoulder rebuilt 3 times in the Army. I am not a UT fan period, but this is hog wash. I know I can handle anyone that comes my way, the fact the kid can't bench 185 has zero to do with what he can do under the net. I play against kids in Dallas ISD as I am a teacher all the time. I have no issue bumping and pushing around 6'2" plus, 230 lbs plus players. So even though I do not like UT this post is one of the most pathetic I have seen in a while. Also take into account how much people grow and mature through their 20's

True this isnt football when you compare how strong you are, but he's going to need to bulk up a little bit more when he plays in the NBA.

If i were a GM,he's still my number one player in the draft..but Portland doesnt need a player like him on the team.

Great quote by Rick Barnes that sums this whole thing up quite nicely:

"If people question his strength, they're stupid. If they are looking for weight lifters to come out of Texas, that's not what we're producing. There are a lot of guys who can bench press 300 pounds in the NBA who couldn't play dead in a cowboy movie. Kevin's the best player in the draft -- period, at any position."

He isn't going to be playing center anyway, so him not being able to bench press 185 lbs doesn't mean shit. I swear, everyone's memory just goes to shit once all these scouting combines come along. Same situation with Vince Young. The guy went 30-2 as a starter and set countless Texas, Big XII, and NCAA records, but when his Wonderlic supposedly showed up low, he couldn't play for shit in the NFL. So much for that theory......

He'll be a Top-2 pick despite all this hoop-la.

No more pathetic than us thinking anything anyone states on this thread is worth reading. Face it, that kid has a couple million reasons ($) to not worry, he can afford a trainer, diet specialist, heck a rocket scientist if need be. You on the other hand can barely afford to pay attention to reality.

Dude, look at the guy. He's a scrawny as me except he's taller and can ball.

While his talent is unbelievable, I think his size is going to get him hurt in the NBA unless he starts getting bigger fast . . . which will be a sign that the NBA is just as bad as MLB.

What high school did he go to? Guess they weren't wealthy enough to put him on Roids like Southlake does.

Again, look at Steve Nash. Back-to-back MVP. He's a scrawny little shit, and he's white! being small and wirey has it's place in the NBA, obviously. It doesn't mean shit what he benches.

He's about to be paid millions for his althetic ability. He'll be up against the world's best MEN. If this is any indication of his overall strength, he'll get tossed around like a rag doll.

i don't think he's worried too much about it. And i'm sure nobody else close to the situation is either. Just because your skinny doen't mean you can't make it in the league. Look at Reggie Miller, Rip Hamilton, Garnett, just to name a few. All i'm saying is their is a small chance that he gets "thrown around".

who cares how much he benches! yeah its sad and pathetic but come on the NBA is becoming an (non) contact sport anyways!! and all yall who care to challenge it isnt, look at how many BS calls are getting called compare to the earlier days! the fact is can he put the ball in the hoop? and think hes been doing it all last year pretty damn easy! against a couple of strong guys that can bench prob alot more than 185!so get over it!!

Again, do you really think he's going to be posting up as a center? You obviously didn't watch him play if you think that. He's a PF with a lethal shot from anywhere on the court. He's going to be shooting mid-range jumpers or 3's most of the time, not trying to back down Shaq in the paint.

Lets also not forget this kid is like 18-19 years old. He hasn't even fully developed physically yet.

Centers aren't the only ones bigger than this pip-squeak. Get off your horned high horse and wake up... nevermind, just wait until he gets in the league and see how amazingly average he'll be.

It's the NBA, not professional wrestling. He'll get stronger over the next few years. Bottom line, I'd take him second unless I already had a center, then I'd take him first. He'll be a star.

And I guess he didn't have to play against anyone of any size in college either?

I'm not saying that all college players are as mature as NBA players are, but when a big majority of your league was coming up from HS and you had to make a rule to stop it...........
