Experience necessary or not? My only sales experience has to do with waiting tables for a couple years, if you can call that sales. I learn fast and train easily though, and am looking for a career change.

This is the same thread that was posted on 06.05.07 and a few people replied to it.
I posted another thread that wasn't 'Sales' specific in the same forum. This thread is regarding our Inside Sales positions and the other thread is regarding ALL positions in our company. I guess I could have combined them, but I'm not a moderator.

Sorry you feel that way.
Does say a little about your charachter though if you walked out of an interview.
Best of luck with your furture endeavors.

I think he meant he walked as in declined the position...not walked out of an interview.

I'm a selling mofo, but I don't think I could ethically sell credit repair services. They're as bad as collectors and Jehova's Witnesses. :o

Ahh, well it's definitely not for everyone. We are looking for a certain type of candidate, not necessarily someone with lots of sales experience. Certain people won't fit in with our culture, so we have to find a fit there first.

We aren't credit repair, fyi.
People always assume that Credit Solutions is a collection agency or credit repair service and we are neither.

Then how do you explain debt settlement? That's part of credit repair., the last time I checked.....

Then how do you explain debt settlement? That's part of credit repair., the last time I checked.....
Debt settlement is re-negotiating your lines of credit with your creditors. Meaning debt relief, you are still paying most of what you owe.
Credit repair typically is dispusting items on your credit report to improve your beacon score. Usually walking away completely from what you owe and disputing the debt.
More detailed description of debt settlement:
Debt negotiation is sometimes referred to as debt settlement. This is most often offered to people who can't handle a debt consolidation program. If you can't make the minimum payments of a debt consolidation repayment plan or haven't made payments in the past 3 months, a debt negotiation program is the next step for solving debt and credit problems.
One benefit of a debt negotiation program is you stop making payments to your creditors. The debt negotiation company either takes monthly payments from you and keeps it in an account, or lets you keep the money in your own account.
While you are making these monthly payments to the debt negotiation company, they negotiate with your creditors for a lower payoff of around 40-50% of your total amount of debt. Once the negotiated settlement is agreed upon with your creditors, the debt negotiation company makes a one time payment to them.
So what does the Debt Counselor do exactly? Are they the people who work with the creditors or the person in debt? Also, what do the customer service people do?
Thanks

wondering same thing. I'd be more interested in the customer service rep position over sales at this point.

Debt Consultants (Sales) main focus is to explain to the potential client how the program will work for them. We have 'pitches' that you use. We basically hand you what you are supposed to say to them as far as how it will work for them and benefit them long term. It explains how Debt Consolidation and Bankruptcy are worse on your credit than Debt Settlement. Our clients seek us out. We don't do ANY cold calling. They find us and contact us via phone, fax or email and you have to get back in touch with them or explain it while you have them on the phone. You don't have to worry about any backend customer service, the Client Services dept. handles all those calls.
Client Services (Call Center) is just how it sounds, handling all inbound and outbound calls for our clients. You are pretty much stuck on the phones all day handling customer issues, payment changes, etc. Pretty simple.
Settlement (Negotiator) handles the negotiating. They actually negotiate the clients debt on behalf of them with their creditors. Mostly phone work, but not on the phones as much as call center.
That's pretty much the run down of the three main dept's here.

Is this like CCCS?
Krysie
07-09-2007, 01:05 PM
Is this like CCCS?
No. CCCS is consolidation. Here's some more info....
CCC organizations were originally set up by a major credit card company in the early 1980s as a means of recovering money from thousands of people that were starting to fall behind on their payments. They disguised themselves as "non-profit" organizations and were able to put on a friendly face, all the while working to collect money for the banks.
Truth is, over 50% of all people who start a CCC program never actually complete paying off their debt. The reason is simple. CCC companies work for the creditors. They want to collect as much as possible and charge you a fee to do it.

If you are a loan office that recently lost your job w/Countrywide or any other Mortgage company and are looking for a new career, shoot me a PM. :)
This week I think I sent up probably 30-ish interviews for loans officers, with the bulk of them leaving or still w/CW and jumping ship.
