firewire card help?

Is it just me or does every firewire card that I buy never work and just freezes up my computer. I've bought pci cards and usb 2.0 cards and the same crap.

Here's the specs on my comp:

AMD athlon 3200
2 gigs of pc3200 ram
Asus motherboard


Does anyone have a suggestion on a good one to buy? Or should I just buy a computer that has one built in to the motherboard? Thanks guys!

Never bought one that was specifically a firewire card. I bought a sound card that had a firewire port on it and never had a problem. Audigy 2....might be a good excuse to get an upgraded sound card. :)
