Would you trade Dirk for Kobe. Keep in mind the Lakers may ask for Harris also.

You're an idiot if you think the Mavs are better with Dork than Kobe. Straight up deal? The Mavs would be stupid to turn it down. This town has too many homers that are afraid of change. Ya'll probably wouldn't trade Mbega for Stoudamire either.

I think I could see the Mavs giving up Dirk and Terry for Kobe, but NOT Dirk and Harris. A straight-up trade would be swell as well, but I doubt it would happen.

Anything Jean jackoff Taylor suggests is a bad idea, he's one of the worst sports writers I have ever read and he should be kicked in the nuts daily for the ignorance he spews.

Fuck yes, in a heartbeat.

Too bad Kobe is locked in his deal with LA through '09.

Maybe we can just put Mavs jerseys on the Spurs, that would be great...

Sorry guy's. in a heart beat i'd trade probaly the best in the active game and proven winner for well Dirk and a non other starter. 1 for Kobe. or hell how about Howard and Harris for Kobe. Lakers want to rebiuld with youth. so Dirk is out of the loop. can you imagine Dirk and Kobe in the starting line up.

Page 2 of ESPN address what dallas would have to give up.

Deal No. 4: Dallas trades Josh Howard, Jason Terry and Jerry Stackhouse (sign-and-trade starting at $7.3 million per) for Kobe.

Comments: I'm intrigued by this one because (A) the Lakers would be competitive with a Howard-Terry-Odom-Bynum nucleus; (B) Kobe would solve all of Nowitzki's toughness/crunch-time problems; and (C) Dallas could probably win a title with Kobe, Nowitzki, the Diop/Dampier combo, Devin Harris and seven guys they found on the street. But would the Lakers ever trade Kobe to a Western contender? And would Cuban ever admit that Dirk was irrevocably damaged by the 2006 Finals and the Warriors-Mavs series, to the degree that he needed to acquire another crunch-time guy? If the Mavs didn't have the testicular fortitude to pull off a Shaq trade three years ago, they won't have the gulliones to go after Kobe.

This gives me a woody, but what makes me lose my hard-on is 'Jet' leave that guy here. We can do without JHoward and JStackhouse and give them a draft pick too. They can still be competitive with those two, this would be the equivlent of the Deion Danders deal that Dallas did with S.F, helping Dallas win the 'BIG One' that the Mavs really do need to get after being so close....'H'

In the "what if" scenario-

If Kobe came here, who would that leave on the squad as starters for Kobe to play with?

There is no denying Kobe is a great player, but I LOVE the Mavs the way the are now with all of the different personalities and the TEAM play. Yes, there is alot of focus on Dirk, but there is still a "team" element to them. I fear that would be lost with Kobe on board.

I fear that they will watch the last three rounds of the Playoffs at home again.

I wouldn't even consider it unless we could get out of Dampiers contract.

The money doens't work. You have to have Terry in this one to make it work. The salaries have to be within 25% of each other. Howard make around 2.5 Stack would make around 8mil and Terry makes around 7mil. Kobe will make around 15mil. Plus, we would have to give them a first next year because we don't have a first this year. The Lakers wouldn't go for it, they want to win now.

HELL NO!

The only way you'd see Kobe in a Mavs uniform would be for them to offer up Dirk straight up and even then the Lakers aren't going to make that deal. They won't trade him away unless it is a fucking steal of a deal because you aren't going to get equal value no matter what. The only team that has a realistic shot is the Bulls with them offering up Ben Gordon, Luol Deng, and Andres Nocioni. Even with that deal, I doubt the Bulls would go for that.

Even if for some wild and wacky way this trade got pulled off the only thing Dallas would get in return is a better "talent," not a better "player." Kobe has way too much baggage with his whole rape trial and the fact that the guy wants to take 30 shots a game. Dirk is highly marketable in the Dallas area and I really don't think Dallas fans would welcome that type of trade.

The Mavs don't need to be looking at trading away their cornerstone of their franchise. They need to look at where they are weak (Point-Guard and Center) and focus on those areas through Free-Agency and the Draft.

Dallas has at least two options when it comes to the Point-Guard position in this coming off-season, either try to beat out Detroit and over-pay for Chauncey Billups or try to trade for Jason Kidd. Other than that, they are wasting their time and trying to use a band-aid on a bullet wound. The Center position could possibly wait due to Diop's maturing, but its definately an area of concern that does need to be addressed in some form or fashion.

I would trade the whole team to LA for a used puck bag! but then again, I don't like basketball. It would get less coverage with no team here.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! At least I hope not. Kobe is good but he's a goddamned ballhog. It might be because the Lakers suck so much ass, but would he sacrifice stats for wins? I personally think Kobe is a piece of shit, although good at roundball, a total piece of shit.

What we need is to find a big shooting gaurd, to pick up a point that can pass or move jet(to the bench or in a trade), or let Harris take over at point and hope he has grown enough to get us out of the constant isolations and into a flowing offense. We also need to pick up a low post scorer or someone needs to add that to their skill set this summer.
The #1 thing we need is a point guard. Terry cant even run a pick and roll which is why Dirk almost always gets the ball on an isolation, which in turn makes it 100 times easier to double/triple team Dirk and isolations dont make for low post scoring because it's hard to isolate a player that close to the basket hence all of our jump shooting this year.

I'm a Mavs fan but would trade Dirk for Kobe, straight up, in a heart beat.
Lakers would be stupid to give up Kobe for anything less than Lebron James.
And for the Dirk nut lickers, Norwitzki wishes he was Lebron James.

I would do anything possible to get kobe!!! Trade dirk straight. Or trade 3 really good guys J HO Stack Jet and get 1 (kobe) in return which would prob. beat all 3 at once. Keep in mind we could have harris kobe george dirk and diop on the court and KOBE plays ALOT of minutes so he would be used to it. He is a great fit for Avery's type of play great half court offensive player and arguably the best defender in the league as well.
