Will Rampage be the new champ? Your thoughts on the fight match up, I think the fight is a bad match up for the champ. He will be lucky to last 3 rounds.

I say Liddell in round 3, TKO (because I don't think theres any way he's just going to straight knock Rampage out).

of course it would be an upset if rampage won, chuck liddel is so badass and im pretty sure a lot of people expect him to win. I think rampage just took advantage of him when he wasnt near as skilled as he is now, that fight was almost 4 years ago.

Jackson doesn't stay at arms length for Chuck which presents a problem for Chuck. He stays up in Chuck's face and keeps him backing up.
The Liddell fans are counting on the last outing for Jackson didn't look that great. They are also counting on the cage being an asset for Chuck to help him from being taken down and could help him get up if taken down.
This could either be a REALLY good fight, or really lame one.

I like both of them & hope Chuck wins but Rampage is one of the strongest guys Chuck has fought in a grip... I see rampage pushing chuck and trying to stay away from that overhand right. Also Rampage is one of the best strikers Chuck has had since Belfore < sp? Also rampage has a super hard head. LOL he can take a few pops to the dome.... I watched something on Spike lastnight about Rampage & I have to say he is a Funny guy. talking about (I made my own style called whoop that ass.) LOL

here are some notes from Dana at the press conference today.
Dana White has a press conference this morning, mostly talking about the Sports Illustrated article and (he was beyond thrilled, saying he and Lorenzo Fertitta walked all over New York holding the issue) as well as Saturday's show from Las Vegas. Among the key points:
*He is not interested in promoting a boxer vs. MMA fighter match because he knows what will happen, unless it's with a boxer the caliber of Floyd Mayweather. Said he had never even heard of Cintron as a boxer and has no interest in him.
*He confirmed negotiations are back on with Kurt Angle. He said Angle tells him he's serious and if Angle is serious, he's interested. He said he doesn't waste his time talking about deals that he thinks are going nowhere, but he also thought he had Angle once in the past.
*Said nothing new to report on HBO. But now he wants to control the production again, but still thinks a deal will be made
*Said in the end, they would finalize the Pride sale and promote shows in Japan. He said their business was a mess and it wasn't run as a business and it's taking a lot of time to sort it out.
*There will be a major main event announced at the end of UFC 71. It will involve the Chuck Liddell vs. Quinton Jackson winner and a challenge that will be issued for a dream match scenario. It will be the first so-called Super Bowl match (my words not his). At another point, White talked about Shogun Rua being signed, but our impression is that it's another match. Doing the math, the opponent they are talking about is probably one of these three names--Wanderlei Silva, Dan Henderson or Rua.
*When a reporter brought up Tito Ortiz thinking that since he's on Dana's bad side that he won't be getting a title match, he said, Tito was a pussy and he needs to show up and fight Rashad Evans.
*He questioned Georges St. Pierre's mental toughness, saying he was so nervous backstage before the fight with Matt Serra. Said his physical ability is second to none.
*Said he expects to run a live event in Mexico in early-to-mid 2008
*Said it was disgusting that New Jersey sanctioned the Ray Mercer vs. Kimbo Slice fight
*Ripped on Oscar de la Hoya as a promoter saying he should have loaded up the undercard, but respects him great for his ability to draw and said he expected 1.4 million to 1.65 million buys
*Said that before the Koscheck fight, that Diego Sanchez was diagnosed with Hepatitis C. At first he was planning on announcing his retirement before the show, but further tests revealed he didn't have it, but they didn't know what it was. Said after the fight with Koscheck he was finally found to have had a major staph infection, explaining his inability in the ring that night.

the only thing that worries me is a quick stoppage......Rampage can take a damn beating and still come back, the UFC doesn't usually allow this.

coleman shot for a takedown and shogun was jumping out of it and fell on his arm funny. i think it fucked up his shoulder pretty bad. if that would not have happened, shogun would have owned coleman nasty.

The only chance Chuck has is KO and Jackson has a solid chin. Jackson is great at the takedowns and Liddell is great at defending them. This has the makings of a good fight.

For the cheapskates who didn't get the ppv. Liddell simply got caught. If he was fighting anyone else he probably would have survived. It was just the wrong guy to fuck up against. Overall, it was a pretty good ppv. However, it would have been nice to see main event go at least 3 maybe 4 rounds.

LOL at early stoppages. Stevens tapped whether he admits it or not. and if for some reason the ref stopped it, it was for a good reason. Din was about to snap that arm. That was a tight ass armbar and there was no way in hell he was getting out of that. Remember Tim Sylvia- Frank Mir???? Or was that way before you starting watching mma. lmfao
As far as Chuck, he was completely out. he went limp on that 2nd punch on the ground, then the 3rd one woke him back up. Go watch the replay......

Man, that was a great example of fast hands and what they can do.
That was kind of like the Arlovski/Sylvia fight where Arlovski came out of nowhere with a nasty right and absolutely rocked Sylvia and then Sylvia knocks him out only a few seconds later.

I wouldn't call a one punch KO an ass kickin :rolleyes: You can clearly see Chuck was walking backwards when he recieved that flash knockdown punch, it was the elbow to thead that was the KO punch/elbow and like Juiced said it was that last punch that woke him up. He was out, but we all know that in UFC/MMA 'ANYONE' can lose at any given time, Chuck will be back. Just like Randy C. came back after those two viscious knockouts by Chuck...'H'

I wouldn't call a one punch KO an ass kickin :rolleyes: You can clearly see Chuck was walking backwards when he recieved that flash knockdown punch, it was the elbow to thead that was the KO punch/elbow and like Juiced said it was that last punch that woke him up. Rampage didnt whoop chucks ass like I was hoping for, but at least he won. Chuck has good counter punching and takedown defense and I am sure he will come back strong and hungry. I think Rampage is to Chuck what kryptonite is to superman. If Chuck actually thinks he will get and win a rematch with rampage then I see him shaving his head, having the tat's removed, and working the counter of Mickey D's very soon.

I like Chuck and Quinton, and Its kind of cool that Quinton won, because there can be no naysaying that he is not on Chucks level. If Chuck would have won this one, everyone would say "Rampage isnt in Chucks league". If they rematch and Chuck wins it will be that much more proof that Rampage is a more than formidable opponent. I would have liked to have seen a better fight though, as in longer, and more technical. Chuck did get cought just right. I wouldnt say exactly "lucky" on Quintons part, but it was as close as you can get to "lucky". All the stars were def aligned for that to come so easy. Chuck was too amped, and was looking to be more offensive than defensive, and it didnt work well for him. Was it an early stoppage. FUCK NO. That fool was OUT. Can he beat Rampage. I would say just as easily as Rampage beat him. But it may never happen.

Dana White mentioned in his ESPN interview if there was to be another fight, it would be after a couple other fights if it happens at all.
Tito had Ken's number.
Chuck had Tito's and it seems that Jackson has Chuck's.
There is alot of upcoming fights to look foward to with all the Pride incomers.

If you want to call it training (more gassing after about 30 secs if I don't get dropped on my shoulder first lol) I try to roll with Southside MMA and Wario and them...but with school 5 nights a week til now I haven't been in a few months.
Told Adam I'd come roll with him and Steve to see how my shoulder was and then I was going to try and go back to Southside...
but as it sits I won't get out of work til after 6, then 30-45 min drive home, dinner, change, then head out to Wylie...fuck it, will be to late. :( Day after 3 day holiday weekend when your call center worked sat/mon and no one took care of the pending issues during that time means me getting fucked on tuesday. :(

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) has released their official results report for UFC 71: LIDDELL VS. JACKSON. The report includes the medical suspensions handed down by the NSAC as a result of Saturday night's bouts. A medical suspension is normal for a fighter who has taken a significant amount of damage in a match. A NSAC medical suspension applies worldwide to all combat sports.
For entertainment purposes, all names have been listed here as they appear on the official results report.
The following fighters have been medically suspended from competition until 6/26/07, with no contact ordered until 6/17/07.
Chris Leben (Portland, OR) - right eyebrow cut
Kalib Axel Starnes (Surrey, BC, Canada) - left cheek cut
The following fighters have been medically suspended from competition until 7/12/07, with no contact ordered until 6/26/07.
Charles David Liddell (San Luis Obuspo, CA)
Carmelo A. Marrero (Douglasville, PA)
Keith Hector Jardine (Albuquerque, NM) has been medically suspended from competition until 7/26/07, with no contact ordered until 7/12/07.
Ivan A. Salaverry (Seattle, WA) suffered a shoulder injury. Salaverry must have his shoulder cleared with a doctor, or have the required surgery, or he cannot compete again until 11/23/07. At a minimum, Salaverry has been medically suspended from competition until 6/26/07, with no contact ordered until 6/17/07.
Karapat "Karo" Parisyan (Van Nuys, CA) suffered an injury to his left thumb. Parisyan must have his thumb x-rayed and cleared by a doctor, or have the required surgery, or he cannot compete again until 11/23/07.
James Lee Irvin (Sacramento, CA) suffered a right knee injury. Irvin must have his knee cleared by a doctor, or have the required surgery, or he cannot compete again until 11/23/07.
The following fighters made it through UFC 71 without serious injury, and have been medically cleared to resume training and competing immediately.
