Ok, I just got off of the phone with the staff at IHOP. They can only accomodate 40 people in the "back room".

Keeping this in mind, I ask that ONLY the racers and crew sit in the back room - PLEASE! (if it doesn't look like it's filling up, then come on in!)

I expect to be there at 7:00 so I can eat and get it over with and be ready. We may have to have the meeting in the parking lot so we can go over the "details".
I suggest you get there earlier than planned so you can unload, get ready to leave, get some food and all you have to do is get in the car and leave. I'd imagine the trailers will have to park on the side street or in the bowling alley parking lot.

We have the back room from 7:00 - 8:30.

PLEASE BE ON TIME - WE ARE LEAVING AT 9:00 SHARP!

You don't have to join for breakfast, but it is your responsibility to find me and get your sticker and a brief run down of the rules.

This will be badass, I look foward to seeing everyone there!

Also, I need a roll call of who is RACING.

I was up a little late last night and now im working a 24hr shift tell Sunday at 7am. haha

So..... Hopefully at 7 in the morning i can drive from Carrollton to Denton to pick up ol' Gray and then drive it to Euless by 8:30 for the cruise. :o

2 Questions also. I dont know if they've been asked or not.

While everyone is sitting in the staging lanes till noon or so with their thumb up their ass can i make some passes during TNT or what. I have some parts and havent ran in almost a year, i need to make sure it runs.

Also, are they going to have nitrous this year?

No, There can't be any TNT passes. The idea behind coming straight to the staging lanes is to keep any big maintenance from happening in the pits because of the long drive. We'll talk about it at IHOP, but as it stands the track has been told we are pulling in the gate, to the lanes, and we'll run at 11:00-12:00

Not sure on the nitrous..

Well, im just saying...

You're the one talking about being safe an all. My car is a street car i'll dirve 3 hrs to race, however i've made some changes and i dont even know if it's going to go straight. I may just wreck into the poor fucker next to me trying to go all out for the first time in a year.
Thinking about that i just have to run TNT.

I dont want an exemption for me i just dont see how leting us TNT is going to slow things if the street class is set to start at a certain time no matter what.

DFWStangs Fastest Street car

The rules are simple -

There will be a cruise to the track, The meeting place to be determined. (about 20 miles)

(I'm looking to get us a police escort for this event as well)

If you are brave enough / dumb enough to drive it on the street for 20 or 30 miles then it's good enough for me. I don't care if you drive on slicks, I don't care if you drive with open headers, I don't care if you have A/C or P/S... I don't care period. If you can't keep up with the group and the lead car then you aren't a STREET car - we will NOT be speeding. We will probably assign a "special" number at the breakfast place to put on your car so that we will know who is in the street cruise/race.
All you have to do is make 2 or 3 passes (haven't determined that yet) with out trouble. You can inflate / deflate tires. You can add fuel, you can open the hood, you can do whatever - I DON'T CARE.

I am, in no way, advocating that you break the law to race in our cruise. If you get pulled over, get tickets, go to jail - it's your responsibility.
We've already received inquires about some pretty good sponsorship, It will be better than ever - once again.

**KODFWS**
1 Round of qualifying, 8 car qualified field. If 8 cars or less show up to qualify - we'll draw numbers and start eliminations immediately. The only 'rule' is - if you can't make the call to the lanes, your competitor will get a competition bye run and you will forfeit.

*Anything goes
*Door cars only
*Any tires
*Any Weight
*Blowers, Turbos, Nitrous, Naturally Aspirated or all of the above.

**Minimum length of membership on DFWStangs of 4 months from the date of the cruise if you want to run in either class**

TNT the rest of the day in between classes!

**If you are wanting to sponsor the cruise in any way, contact me via PM's**

There will be 50/50 tickets again, Tshirts to be thrown in the stands, and prizes!!!

I'll post the details as I finalize them. I've been requested to book the date for the next Fall Cruise as well - There will be magazine coverage at that event! (I don't know specifics yet, but when I do I'll post them)

The post rule will not be in effect this time around, instead it's going to be a length of membership with DFWStangs - You must have joined the site by 2/20/2007 to run in any of the money events (for this cruise).

As you all know by now, I am a stickler for safety. DO NOT ASK TO RUN YOUR CAR IF YOU KNOW IT'S NOT LEGAL. If you make a pass and you are not legal you will be asked to park it. No, I can't see everyone breaking safety rules - but the ones I see will be talked to.

*Street tire cars are asked to drive around the water boxes, not THROUGH them.
*If you break on the track pull to the side so that you don't spill fluid all the way down the track. (just don't pull over like slowbrick did)
*Once the rules are posted, they are final. (changes with a majority vote are considered)
*If you are leaking, you will be pushed off of the track - it's not personal.
*If you are driving in an "unsafe" manor, even on the track, you will be asked to leave.

You would have a better turn out if this class would accommodate every street car in DFW. If you want more participation next year, you should make the "spot" off I-30, spur 408, I-30 & 360, or 183, in the middle of the metroplex somewhere to accommodate most every member in DFW and not just those in FTW with turbo cars close to the track that can make it down the highway on slicks and open headerrrrr... downpipe and not get caught.

Fastest tagged and inspected, muffled, 10.5 dot tired, door slammer in DFW. That would bring a good field of cars. But I guess these turbo cars don't fit that class. So leave the back doors wide open in the rules, and make a class they do fit in and no body else does. What kind of "street car" runs open header? What kind of street car needs a full race slick because they can't get it done on a dot? I predict a turbo car with no less then 400 inches with a 10 what ever, for the win.

BigShoe
05-19-2007, 02:13 PM
I predict there wont even be a turbo car show up. I also predict that a Blower car on a 28-11.5 et street will win. ( or atleast go afew rounds)

This spot is off of I30, only about 6 miles from it to be exact.

There aren't ANY turbo cars from FTW that are coming that I am aware of. Some of the members drive their cars on the street with non legal tires. That's fine with me, like I said - I don't care.

There, at the time of the "creation" of this class was ONLY ONE turbo car that I work on that was going to run. I don't know how open you want it to be - but there are NO RULES - other than driving it to the track and meeting with the group.

Remember, I put this race on FOR FREE. I don't get PAID.... other than an occasional pass into the track that I DID NOT ASK FOR. So, I arrange the cruise, I DRIVE AN HOUR TO THE MEETING PLACE, DEDICATE MY TIME, ARRANGE THIS EVERY YEAR, TWO TIMES A YEAR, AT NO CHARGE TO ANYONE OTHER THAN AN ENTRY FEE. And it's NOT FAIR?

This is not COTT, KOTH, TTT5 and we are not running for 3,000$. There is no additional entry fee...

What exactly do you want?

Edit - for the record - The turbo car you are incinuating (sp?) I built the class for has FULL exhaust, and is one of the biggest sponsors with CASH MONEY donated to the cruise.

EDIT 2: One more thing I forgot, The same car I speak of also runs on 28X12.5 ET streets. ;)

If the car can make the cruise and not get busted from Irving to the track (middle of the metroplex Irving 3 miles from the Airport is pretty fair to everyone in DFW) and doesn't break after the cruise and makes 3 back to back passes...then it's a "street car" or do you want to get so anal that they have to have full interior, no backhavles/tubs, full stereo, with a/c and be able to cruise to South Dakota and back?

Oh and I happened to eat at the IHOP we are meeting at today our waitress will be Morgan and she's a nice girl so everyone tip her well. :p

I don't claim it to be "my" event, this is our (DFWStangs) event. That is why I go through a lot of "negotiating" to make it ONLY DFWStangs at the track. Quite often it's been brought up to make it an "open" day...inviting other clubs and what not....

Jet - I can appreciate your honesty, but in this case - It's not catered to my car or anyone's cars I work on. As you know - NEVER will everyone be pleased by the rules. I make post after post after post to invite ANYONE to voice their opinions towards the rules... and it never fails - near the last day or two there is ALWAYS one or two or three... people who want something different. After "voting" is closed - it's just not fair to change the rules for those in the minority.

Nobody's upset, just defending what I, you or anyone else would consider unfair judgement - we're all guilty of it from time to time.
