Anybody got some advice on a clean fender eliminator setup and who can help me install it locally, as well as maybe can help me install frame sliders? I couldn't figure out where the fuckers bolt up on my R1 to save my life... (I can break shit but I usually can't fix it  ) .

well, since it's a newer R1, it's probably about the same as my FZ1. there's a top bolt on each side that's holding the motor up. that's where the slider goes. you unbolt one, and bolt up the slider, and then do the other. not very hard.
the bolt at the frame and motor.

though, I'm now saying fuck the frame sliders, and going with some crashbars I've found for my bike.

a pic of frame sliders on a FZ1. they probably use the same bolt on a R1.

I don't think I have ever seen a frameslider save anything...it just gets broke in the crash.

Usually the short-ish ones seem to do alright. Those "extended" sliders seem to snap right off at highway speed+ Sadly, so do most "no cut" sliders too.

Man, this was probably 02 or so, but there were 5 of us out one day and competition got a little to close and one guy in our group ended up rear ending Uriah at 130ish mph. Uriah didn't go down (of course) but his bike received the most damage. The other rider's front wheel hit Uriah's rear wheel and launched his bike fairly high and off to the side in an instant. Uriah had an F4i at the time and it broke his tail light, tail section, exhaust, subframe, and that's about all I could remember. He had to ride home standing on the pegs due to the broken subframe.

The Gsxr just landed and slid and slid and slid and slid. It wore off a few inches of the slider and even wore a hole through the stock exhaust can. It was so long ago, I can't remember if the fairings got scratched at all. I don't think they did, but I honestly can't remember. I know none of the covers were leaking any fluids. The bike was 100% rideable no problem, the rider wasn't, he got a nice little concussion when he hit the ground. I think I remember the bake lever being fairly worn down too.

I've been debating about getting these for my RR, that's the same year and color combo as mine.

I just hate the idea of cutting my mids to make them fit

Andi, I think I saw in another thread you have a new R1.

It doesn't appear that you have to cut anything here, but your R1 is slightly different if it's the new model so they might not mount the same, hell, the might not have one out for your bike if it is different. Lockhart Phillips sells them, but I *think* you can contact Powers directly to get them, might get a better deal, certainly would be more likely to get better info on them.

They don't stick out far, are approved by some road racing sanctioning bodies, and are used by some road racers, I wouldn't worry about dragging/hitting them on the ground the way people have done with stunt cages. However, I could better let people know once I get around to getting some.

You can get them in all kinds of colors too.

I was thinking if I got them I would paint them to mimic the look of the bike, silver, thengloss black for the honda wing, then try to match that gun-metal color of the clutch cover, then a semi-gloss black to match the frame. Just do what I can to keep them from grabbing the eye.

I dont think they are ment to save anything in a high speed crash, but if you drop your bike at a low speed it will hit the frame slider instead of land on your plastics / clutch / brake lever.
