when i was a jr in football my best on bench was 360 i weighed 170lbs...with the help of juice....squats were not to good for me didnt do them.. many of the players got hurt cause coach told them to throw alot of weight on their..and they had improper form :( i got hurt soo stoped doin them

Max was in high school. At the time I was 190, benched 325, squatted 440. I might be able to put up 300 now at 205. :o

yeah it makes a big diff...but bad for ya... i am diognoised with major depression before i took them and yea......had to stop! got fat after goin off...stopped workin out...didnt maintain my body

i was about 185 and pushin 350 now i am 200 ish recovering from double hernia surgery. My best lift was 400 on bench about 1.5 years ago, using only things available at GNC.

255lbs bench, only like 225 squat. My legs WERE like pencils in highschool. I weighed 165. My legs have finally filled out and I work out with 275 on squats now. Not sure what my maxes are. I don't really care.

Back in September playing around during a "take some weight" day I did 405 with a belt and knee wraps. Nowadays I've been hitting 385+ pretty regularly on max effort squat days off a box so I could squat more, just haven't bother with circa max work and a legit max because I haven't competed.

best was back in 10th grade, i was maxing out at 505, and squating right around 900, 14yrs later i can bench 405, and no telling on squat since i dont do them anymore, i blew out a knee in high school...

495@270 pounds I am now 250 and havent tried to max out but do 405 4 times which is pretty shitty for my size. I cant squat shit bad knees.

dang, some strong bastards in here... I was 6'2" 225 and my best was 285 in 10th grade. I broke my wrist as a jr. and have had trouble with bench and pushups since then. My best was always military press. I was winning competitions in 7th grade lifting 140-150. I do reps with that weight now, but for a 13yo thats pretty good.

When i was in high school I weighed around 240-250 and only benched 225. Last semester before my knee injury, I was doing 325 for 5 sets or so. Last week I finally got back to the 300 mark, but my main concern now is weight loss and cardio. Anyone remember what they did in 7th grade, I remember my first bench in football was a whopping 70 pounds, hell i do more than that with one dumbbell now. I was weak as shit.

I was 16 weighing 170. MAX Bench: 350
Squat: 480
Leg press: 760
Dead Lift: 455 which ended up being my H/S record.
No juice or any substance used, my dad gifted me with some good genetics!!
6.1 @ 205lbs now.
Bench 260lbs now @ 10 reps
Squat 200lbs now @ 10 reps
I know I suck on squats. I can build my upper body really easy. But I hate legs. :mad:

i weigh 194 and bench 365lbs 6 times with very little spot on 6th rep.. chest is not really my best though.. my body type has the arms.. i can curl 65lb in each arm 5 times.

With over 10,000 members I wouldn't say it was a high population of beasts. But yea, there is some inflation I'm sure (the internet adds 50 lbs to your bench).
160-170, if you aren't 8 foot tall... you should be shooting for at least 250-275 on your bench. I'm at about a 275 max and I'm 175 at 6' 1" and I don't lift like some of these guys do.

I had a grade 3 on my achilles tendon. Had surgery back in October.
I'm benching 275 at 6' 1" and 175 lbs. Squat... most likely close to 400 (I'm all legs). Plus I can run a marathon backwards. :D
No juice, not HST and I lift a maximum of 2x a week.

Keep pushin' man, 175 isn't a bad starter weight (for reps), but you've got a long way grow. I remember the days of wanting to push up 225 on bench and 315 on squats, thinking I'd never get there, and I'm well beyond that now. Growing and strength take time. Not that you will keep up that kind of growth, but 3lbs of lean mass a month is decent good progress.
Bullshit aside, I can't give a solid max, as I haven't done a ORM in years, but there's nothing special about my training other than 10+ years of experience. My best lifts to date are 315lbs for 4 sets of 5 on bench, 265lbs for 4 sets of 5 on military press, and 4 sets of 495lbs for 8 on squat. 5'10" and 205lbs.

On the 5th set the numbers usually look something like this:
Squat - 315(Smith) 2 - 5 reps
Leg Press - 730 x 6 to 8 reps
Bench - 235 x 2-3 reps (working on it )
I weigh between 168 and 170,

Wow. Some of the replies in here are so believable.
I don't have a max bench yet. I work out at home, so I don't have a spotter. I've been lifting with free weights for 4 months now and a Bowflex for 5 months before that. I started out a 5'10" 215lb fatass with no prior weight training other than what was required in soccer my junior year in high school and back then I probably weighed a buck fifty and could bench 145. Now, three months from turning 30, I weigh 165. Part of today's workout was chest. On flat bench, four sets of 8, I did 95, 115, and two sets of 135. After the rest of my workout to squeeze a little more burn into my chest, I laid back down and did 165 four times, praying I wouldn't have to slide plates off onto the floor to bail myself out. My entire goal is to be in the best shape of my life on my 30th birthday, because I was in the worst shape of my life on my 29th.

Just stick with it. Work hard, eat right, and be patient. Everyone has to start somewhere, so if you have questions, just ask. There are a couple of guys in here that have given me some real solid help. Educate yourself as much as possible. I've also found some good cheap info at 1/2 Price Books and a ton of free info on bodybuilding.com.
