This is from a friend of mine.... He's a local guy. People, wear your helmets. He's lucky to be alive!
Subject: I FINALLY KNOW HOW I WRECKED!!!
Body: the bikes motor locked up, causing the rear tire to go into a slide and the bike veered off the road and hit a cement drain pipe. that caused me to fly over the handlebars and land on the ground on my back . the bike then flipped over landing on my face, crushing my left side of face and skull ,then flipped once more to right behind me...its been tough, really really tough, but im glad to be alive and still kicking today!!!!very soon ill have my last surgery that will leave me loking great. thankyou to all of those of you who prayed for me... ill talk to yall later and have a great day...

but helmets mess up your hair.
:p I always wear a helmet, and jacket, and gloves. if I didn't have those on 2 weeks ago, my arm and hand would be swiss cheese. and, I have a shaved head, so I for sure don't have hair to mess up.
but seriously, in the last 2 days I've seen at least 2 riders were a leather icon jacket, etc, and NO helmet. Like I said, it'd mess up their hair.

I'm amazed how many morons you see fly by at 80mph with nothing more than a t-shirt and shorts! Helmet, jacket and gloves are mandatory!

The Chad and I went out riding last night and stopped into Sonic on our way home, you know for the most part I think people wear there gear but there are still a few uneducated folk that just don't know the consequences.
And for the people who don't wear one because they think there too cool, just know if you pull up next to me, Im thinking "what a Jackass".

I sometimes dont wear my jacket if it is hot out, but helmet and gloves are always on. As for helmets messing up your hair, try riding without one, your hair will be 10x's more screwed up.

In just about 8 years of riding I've been in my fair share of "crashes". All but one of them were my fault and single vehicle accidents. I've lowsided while cornering hard several times and flipped two stoppies, one of which the bike came down on me pretty hard still at a pretty moderate clip. I probably would have survived all of those accidents without a helmet.
Once minding my own business cruising down the street, not really sure how fast I was going, speeding, but not ludicrous speed. I *think* I was going 60 or so? Someone made a u-turn in front of me and I never even hit the brakes. I slid head long into a curb and that's the part of the accident a cop did witness. In the police report it said I bounced off the curb approximately 10-12 feet into the air and traveled 35 feet while airborne.
My only head injury was a concussion, I was fine. I can't say whether or not my brains would have splattered all over that curb if I didn't have that helmet on, but I sure wouldn't want to be in that situation again without one. That was an accident that could happen to anyone, I wasn't trying to ride around on one wheel, put my knee on the ground, or anything else stupid, just cruising down the road.

Ive had too many retreads in cars try n switch lanes into me to not wear a helmet. Do they think that i dont get a lane because im half the size of a car  . I swear the 1st person who does make me wreck while switching lanes without looking is getting my helmet upside thier brainless head, yet another reason to have a helmet with you.

Many years ago I was on my first bike and a lady pulled out in front from a left turn lane. I had no time to hit brakes and t-boned the car at 40mph. Witness said I did a full gainer over the car and laqnded on my back 50 yards down the street. I knew there was a semi behind me and ran to the side of the road as soon as I hit only to find the wind knocked out of me and couldn't get a breath for almost a minute. Took of the helmet to find it split almost completely in half! Don't think I would be here if I didn't have it on!

How do you pull off a gainer flipping over the handlebars, seems like you would flip the other way.

One of the guys that I first started riding with has t-boned redlight runners not once, but TWICE!
The second time his bike hit the car in the b-pillar area and totaled it. People say his luck is bad, shit, if he was a couple seconds earlier and the car was t-boning him, his luck would be MUCH worse.

So, you hit a car, traveled another 150' airborne (all going only 40?), and only got the wind knocked out of you?
I'd raise the flag, if i had one.

In my one accident on my bike, my helmet didn't have a scratch on it. I still managed to bust off two teeth, so that was likely my bottom teeth's fault. I dunno.
In any case, I always wore a helmet.... And kept a cap handy under the rear cowl :p . That's why they invented caps! :D

I just shaved my head. No more bad hair days and the helmet cooling system is more effective. Keep the rubber side down.
