I take Centrum Performance off and on depending on how my diet was that day. I try to get my vitamin needs taken care of through diet.

What ever you choose, be careful of the iron content and limit it to 10mg a day supplementation.

Too much iron can cause joint pain, heart palpitations and impotence.

You get iron from your typical American diet which is why you should minimize supplementing it unless a doctor says to supplement.

My main problem with my diet would be not much vegetables daily. I ate grilled chicken, turkey, eat stemmed rice, drink water. I dont know how many vitamins etc are in turket and chicken but I am assuming I would need a suplement or starting eat some greens.

Consumer Reports did a really great study on the effectiveness of several popular vitamin brands. it was interesting to see how many of them are basically just filler shit, or insoluble, or worthless.

Might try and Google the article. I think it came out last year or the year before.

When looked at separately they found that Vitamin A increased death risk by 16 per cent, beta carotene by 7 per cent and Vitamin E by 4 per cent. The results for Vitamin C were not so clear, but by looking at the best quality trials there was a suggestion that it increased death risk by 6 per cent, either on its own or in combination with other supplements.

Yes, when supplements are taken by people that are already seriously ill death will sometimes result.

The population in the study wasn't one that targeted those seriously ill. With a lot of these vitamins, they will use certain "delivery systems" that help the body absorb more of said vitamin/supplement. A lot of the time, these additives are pretty harmful to you.

Further, a lot of the time these vitamins are pure/isolated so they don't have the same chemical composition as they do when they are in normal foods. Further causing them to be more harmful, again, in certain cases.

Not as simple as most would think. Anyway, I'm not saying do or do not take them. That's why I just posted the article. They very well could be beneficial depending on your diet and what you are supplementing. But I don't believe in taking a daily multivitamin just because you think it's a good thing.

I agree with you there. The only time I take a multi is when I know my diet sucked or will suck that day. For example, when I have a long travel day and for whatever reason I can bring my own bag of goodies with me.

The only thing I daily supplement on is C&E and it is more about the type of training I do than anything else. After a 2 hour run or a 4-5 hour bike ride your immune system is totally shot and you changes of getting sick sky rocket over the next few hours.

And Fish Oil when I don't eat fish for a couple of days.

Really?

I workout about 20 hours a week and I survive on an occasional Centrum multi.

Now I know why I suck so bad.
