View Full Version : Would you care if the VIN sticker was on a bike or not?

I bought an F4i a couple days ago that needs some TLC. Previous owner was starting to polish the frame and knicked the sticker a few times. Don't get confused, the VIN itself is fine, I'm just talking about the sticker.
I'm going to paint or powdercoat the frame back to black.
If you were a potential buyer, what would turn you away more, the sticker being removed or the sticker being roughed up???
I plan on showing any buyer before/after pics anyways. Just wondering what the masses thought.

I don't see a problem with no VIN sticker on the frame. As long as the numbers on the headset are unmolested I wouldn't think there would be a problem.

with the amount of stolen stuff going around, EVERYONE needs to be very weary of what they are purchasing, ESP if the sticker is missing. Its easy to mistake a letter or number on the stamp, so check with the title CAREFULLY. Dont buy stolen parts, it raises our insurance prices and fucks hard working ppl out of their stuff.

I had taken mine off of my F4I when I had it and had no problem selling it. I took it off because it looked ugly.

If you must remove it, go ahead, but save it somewhere with the title and registration paper work.
I'd be a bit nervous about buying an expensive bike that had the sticker removed... it might not quash the deal... but IMHO, I'd rather have the sticker in place.

i'm always leery of bikes without the sticker just because its so easy to restamp the frame. plus, i'm not a fan of polished/powdercoated frames anyway.

I'll probably just keep it on then. I wish people who didn't know what the fuck they were doing would just stop doing it! The guy was trying to polish the frame with the bike still fully assembled WTF?! But hey, it's got a chrome windscreen you can't see through, chrome chaingaurd, and chrome rear hugger, bling blang YO
Polished/Chromed frames and bike parts look like shit IMO. It's going back to as close to the stock color as can be.

I Peeled It Off One Of Mine And Put It Back On After The Polishing Was Complete Looks Great. I Would Leave It On
