I am having to ship my over & under shot gun back to Ruger to have a the break over reset pin fixed. Ruger told me that I could ship the gun to them and that they could ship it back directly to me as long as it is coming to them for service ,which it is. I have been on the phone with UPS several times, turned away by the UPS store and sent to the main UPS shipping place where they had no means to pack it. Finally, I got someone at a UPS store willing to find me a box and help me back the gun properly for shipping at the main UPS location as they are not allowed to accept it. Tomorrow I hope to finally get my gun sent off. Has anybody else had this experience?

personally I would have gone to the post office... I hear they are really friendly when it comes to shipping firearms, oh and they will help you pack it too!

I never had a problem with fedex.

I had to ship a gun back to Beretta once. The shipping was a hassle, but no major problems. Beretta, on the other hand, made sure that I won't ever buy a gun from them again.

Seems like it'd be easier to just go through a dealer.

What did Beretta do?

I never had a problem with fedex.

Was going to go that route until I saw on there website that they require it to go overnight like a handgun. As much as the shotgun weights it would have cost a small fortune to ship it. I finally got the gun shipped today via UPS. I hope that it gets fixed corectly after the $10 for packing and $26 for shipping.

What did Beretta do?
They told me to send in all of the magazines with the gun, so I did. When I finally got the gun back there was only one magazine. I called them up and they told me that it was all that I sent. I explained that they had told me to send all of them so I did. They didn't budge, so I got a supervisor. The supervisor told me that they have a checklist when they unpack a gun and that my list didn't say anything about extra magazines so I must have lost it somewhere at my house or have it mixed up with my other ones. I explained that it was my only firearm and that everything is always stored in the same case that I shipped to them. They still refused. So, I had to send back a faulty gun, then had them keep my extra magazines, and refuse to make it right. What ever happened to customer service?

The gun was a $200 .22LR. It cost me almost $60 to ship it to them, took them about a month to return it minus two $25/each magazines, and the gun still won't shoot right.

if you were only gonna have one autoloading .22, why in the name of the sweet lord buddha would you get anything other than a ruger?

Which means that it would have cost them next to nothing to have fixed it. The fact that the gun failed was not really a problem. The gunsmith I took it to first told me that each piece was within tolerances, but that they were at the extremes. The problem was that they were so willing to lose me as a customer. This was my first gun and they made sure that none of my other ones came from them.

The reason I got the Beretta over the Ruger is a long story about a big mistake. If I get another .22 it will be a Ruger.

A couple of years later I own 7 firearms and the only Beretta is that .22. I will still continue to buy firearms, but none will be a Beretta.

Got my shotgun back today and it is finally fixed. Heck they even made additional adjustments and replaced other parts due to wear. They shipped it back in an orginal type box with an owners manual as I bought the gun used and didn't have one. They also didn't charge me a thing and the gun is over 10 years old! Total time of repair including shipping back to me was 3 weeks. I have had guns in longer at the gunsmith for a complete cleaning.
