whats your average commission on a full time job? My buddy did this for a while and they didnt pay enough to make it worth it. He would drive so much and he had to pay his own gas... At the end of 2 weeks he would net something like 600 bucks after paying all his gas. Then you factor in wear and tare on your own vehicle...

Also, is this a W2 based or 1099? Luckily he was W2, cant imagine if it were 1099

Contract - 1099

You are responsible for your expenses. The average, we have 40 contractors, is $600.00 right now. That includes part-timers, contractors who leave early or come in late, and their other time off. Their average $$ for gas depends on the car, they usually travel around 250 miles per day and we add fuel surchages each time the price of regular unleaded hits the next 25 cent mark. The surcharge more than pays for the raise in gas prices.

I do have several contractors that make more than $800 per week before expenses. They have been with me for over 5 years. Right now 35 of the 40 have been with me over a year and out of that 35, 30 have been with me over 2 years. I have 7 contractors that have been with me for over 8 years.

You do have to work, start to finish, to make decent money. If you come in late you get the left overs, if you leave early you miss the after hour, higher priced, deliveries. You will have a learning curve, usually a couple of weeks. Longer if you don't have a good memory and you have to keep looking up addresses, or missing turns. Spending an extra 10 minutes on a delivery adds up pretty quick when you are trying to complete 15-20 deliveries a day.

$140 a day minus $60 a day in gas.

I did these runs myself last friday and I traveled 150 miles. So I spent less than $20 on gas. I also finished at noon. Most of these deliveries are less than 10 minutes from each other. I will be doing them again Monday morning, I'll keep you posted.

One more thing, I do not just throw you on the road and hope you get the deliveries on time and hope that you understand the information you are recieving on your pager and nextel. I do request that you spend a day with one of my current contractors so when you are on your own you will have a better chance of being productive. You will not recieve any commission for riding with another contractor, they will receive the comission for the deliveries.

The part-time positions I will actually ride with you, in your vehivle, so you will receive commission from the get go. The early morning runs are really easy and you do not need to communicate with dispatch as much. If things go smooth you will only be calling in to tell him that you are finished, give him the number of deliveries you completed and go home.

i am interested in this. I have my own truck and also if yoiu take a fulltime position and have your own nextell, do you still have to have the companys 90 dollar a month deal?

No you do not. What you will need is:

Nextel internet on your nextel plan and there is a $5.00 a month charge for server access. The airtime cost of the pager, which I believe is $15.00 a month. So $20.00 a month instead of $90.00 a month. I will edit this post Monday if I am incorrect on any of these amounts.

The majority of the packages are small and they are needed now.

We have a large client base, with a lot of repeat business. You may find yourself going into the same office a lot or going into totally different offices for the first month. After that you should be rolling.
