Looks like there MIGHT be a date of April 6th set, according to these various but mainly Russian sources. Also, we're all aware of the heightened activity in the Gulf by American forces and the presence of so many naval units.

Now, without name calling and the typical "let's nuke em all" crap I'm wondering what you think will happen. Do you think the US will simply try to cripple the military or try to completely wipe out the economy by destroying targets much like Israel did to Lebanon in '06?? Do you think they will launch an attack by air or on land as well? Do you think Iran will retaliate by attacking Iraq or Afghanistan? I'm just curious to see what you guys think of this situation since I haven't seen any news reports on it popping up.

That's a given, and obviously this is an Israeli orchestrated attack...... provided there is such an attack. But Israel cannot directly confront Iran because all of the Arab countries would have reason to attack and would love that opportunity.
Whether it is speculation or not, what do you think might happen and how? I'm just curious as I have family in Iran and I'm wondering how this might affect my relatives.

Given that the dems are trying to chop additional funding for the current effort in Iraq (as existing funds are running out) i'd be surprised to see the US launching any kind of fresh initiative against Iran at the moment.

IMO sooner or later Israel will lob a few of their ground penatrating nukes at Iran's nuke facilities and take care of the problem.

I don't think the US would start an offensive on the night of April 5th/6th. There isn't any pressing need for an attack that soon, if at all at this point.

If we get to pick dates for a pool, I would take April or May 17th.

We wont do anything on our own. At this point if something were to begin it's going to be initiated by Britain. Bush has fucked up on a lot, but he's not dumb enough to start another war based on non-American hostages.

I think this will end peacefully but I'm nearly too drunk to type so I'll get into that later.

No problem. Before I begin, I would like to reiterate that I have no problems with Jewish people and I hold them in the highest regard. I have several Jewish friends, and I even train with an Israeli.

To me Zionists are just as bad as Muslim extremists, except they are better equipped. I believe the taking of the land from Palestine to create Israel is a sham, this is the first time in history a land was simply taken from its people and given to another. How is it that the people of Israel have prospered so much in the last half century and the Palestinians have gone into more decay and despair?

The Zionists are killing Palestinians, and they must be stopped. The Zionists in Israel have running water, electricity, food, shelter, top notch hospitals while the Palestinian children are being killed on a 5:1 ratio. Israeli forces continue to occupy and expand into Palestinian territory, and there is no sign of slowing down. The United States has vetoed every time at the UN, without exception, in favour of Israel. Israel has nuclear power, but does not sign the Non Proliferation Treaty. All of these things are the reasons why Zionists must be stopped. It's perfectly fine to live in the land of Palestine side by side with Muslims, in peace. But the theft of their land and killing of their mothers and children must stop. The only way to stop it, is by killing the Zionists. Those who believe they are entitled by God to take this land by any means necessary. They are the true terrorists.

Interesting...So Israel has nuclear weapons, but hasn't used them. Do you think that if Muslim extremists' had nuclear weapons, you could say the same for them? That is where the big difference is between the two.

I se shipping halted, Turkey closing the pipes as payback, Russia halting nuke assistance and a real bona-fide internal uprising betwen the military and the imams. No shock and awe required. Inflation cheapens American goods, Europe goes into stagfation, Japan takes over the Chinese markets via oil pipeline leases and the US starts seling more goods at home.

To address the quality of life issue - ya gotta put the guns down and become a responsible member of the international community before prosperity will arrive. You can look around today and see any number of countries that have chosen war as their preferred way of life and every one of them has slid into ruin. Palestine had the chance for prosperity and peace when the international community agreed to all of arafat's demands; all he had to do was sign a treaty - and he decided not to do so. He chose war over peace.

As far as kids getting shot - that's pretty simple. Stop shooting your own guns and they'll stop shooting back.

While I am sympathetic to some of your feelings, I would like to point out that most of the palestinians were "herded" into the region as refugees of the arab states and are continualy exploited by them as well. I wonder if the number of non-jews in Israel today is more than existed in the same region in 1949? By simple numbers no one has been pushed "out". That is a gross generalization but at 5:1 loses how do they continue to increase faster?

And lol@ the idea this is new. What is new is the idea of aboriginal rights, which started in the later 19th century and continues to be a force today. Real or perceived, the "ancestral homeland" idea would not fly until colonialism started to die off. Thank US foreign policy for that one. Consider the Philippines and how that was handled.

This is an apples to oranges type of problem. We cannot draw a direct comparison of the two, because the Muslim Extremists are not surrounded by Zionists. The Zionists are surrounded by Muslims.
That being said, if the Muslims were in Israel and surrounded by Zionists then I do not think they would use the weapons either.
However, if the Muslims did have these weapons today, in todays circumstances, they would most definitely use them.

Fair enough. But do you realize what you have just said resembles America perfectly? America has chosen war with more countries over the last 50 years than any other. America suffers from so many internal problems, corruption, unprecedented murder rates and racism/stereotypes than any other country in the world. That is not necessarily true. Though some of them were expelled from countries like Syria, they were not herded in. Most of the Palestinians were pushed out of their homes in modern day Israel into current day West Bank and Gaza Strip. And at the time that Israel was founded, most of the Arab countries started to expel the Jews and they all "herded" into Palestine.
The underlying fact is that Israel is committing mass genocide against the people of Palestine. Nobody is willing to help them, everyone is willing to call them terrorists and put sanctions on them but Israel has received more "aid" from America than any single country in the history of the world. Israel, which needs no aid, receives more of your tax dollars than any other country in the world. Israel, which has nuclear weapons and American planes and weapons, receives aid from the US. I do not understand this.
This has nothing to do with aboriginal rights, since when has it been acceptable to gain land and territory without war? Since when has it been ok to simply take someones land away and issue it to someone else. If the Jews needed a home, why not take some land from Poland and Germany where they had already been living for so long to create the land of the jews? Zionists have infiltrated many governing bodies, they continually exploit the American people government and politicians, and they were able to use the Holocaust to benefit for themselves a way to steal land by using their leverage in banks and financial institutions. Yeah yeah, I know conspiracy theories. But do you have any other way to explain why America always vetoes UN resolutions in favour of Israel?

Our massive gifts of military aid didnt start until upto and after the yom kippor (sp)
war. Before that Israel's main benifactor was France. That is where they got their first tanks, planes, and nuclear reactor from. England also gave Israel some military aid in the 50s for participating in the the Anglo/French plan to push Nasser out of the Suez. JFK considered giving substantial military aid but got wacked, LBJ tried to use the idea of weaponry as a carrot to dangle in front of the israeli's, Nixon decided to give in on the advice of kissenger finally in hopes that Israel would listen to america and be more lenient in its peace settlements with Egypt.

First off the UN partition left plenty of room for palestinians to create their own country, it was after the local arab nations invaded israel that they took over the palestinians lands as conquered territory.

Since when does the UN have the right to split up a land and give more than half to the minority religious group???

And second, just because there were Jews there does not entitle them to ownership of the land just because they were from there 2000 years ago!! The Jews were a minority, then the Zionists started plotting a return to the land promised to them by God. And they stole that land, using thievery, deceipt and corruption. Israel has no right to exist. None of the wars they've won since 1948 are legitimate.

I thought you said "aboriginal rights" (notice quotes) were not part of the politics? The majority Seph (white) jews did not come from arab expulsion. Why? Because of this "right of return" stuff. Welcome to Balfour post WWII. US policy has only had half a century to evolve since then. It's taken that long for the brand new country with the then-third-most-powerful-air-force to become a lacky of the US with virtually no military presence en masse. Give it time, Israel will weigh less on US policy after we annex Canada. Who completely mangled their position. And who just granted a whole state "aboriginal homeland" status, removing dissidents without a war and with the blesing of the UN.

Zionism for the most part started as a secular idea, much like the country of Israel so your religious comment is negated. The UN had the right to decide what to do with Palestine because it was still a british mandate left over from WW1 when the Ottoman empire who backed the Germans fell. And going back to the balfour declaration where the Jews were promised a section of land after the fall of the Ottomans. Israel snuck in just as the fall of colonialism was taking place.

Generally in response to the world community calling for a peacekeeping force, or in response to an attack, or to enforce a UN mandate, or to defend an ally, or perhaps to remove a despot. I have not noticed a 51st star being sewed on the US flag lately, nor have I seen a permanent US occupation of any country over the last 50 years. Hell, we rebuilt europe after WW2. I'm not saying the US has not been involved in some things that maybe we should have stayed out of, but we aren't acting like Genghis Khan either.

I've also noticed an incredible amount of antisemitism being thrown around in the international forum, again, necessary for said war to happen.
With that said I cant recall a war or attempted extermination that the Jew's have not survived or even come out of with gains... I'm just sayin'

Actually, Semites are people from that area including the people of Palestine and many other Arabic peoples. Would this term also refer to Jewish people from Brazil? Or perhaps Polish Jews?
The term Anti-Semitism would not refer to those people. So all of you guys who keep saying that you wish to bomb and kill all Palestinians, you're all Anti Semitic!

Following up on someone who had asked me earlier of Iranians thoughts back home on the situation at hand. I was chatting with my cousin and uncle, among others, for a couple of hours today and I thought I'd ask directly about the current situation. If any of you care, I'll just basically sum it up.

I asked what they thought of the current situation with the 15 British soldiers, and they replied that they believed any trespassers should be dealt with accordingly. They said that they believe this is a set up by British and American forces, that they knowingly sent their forces into Iranian waters to be captured and to use it as an excuse to use military force against Iran. My cousin also stated that 3-4 times a year they hit the streets and demonstrate in protest to America's presence in the middle east.
I explained that when they protest and chant anti US slogans, that American people sit baffled behind their TV's wondering why these people hate them so much. That these sorts of things seen on American TV lead people to assume all Iranians are angry and terrorists at heart. They replied that the Iranian people view Americans the same way that Americans view them, as terrorists. They also added that its not just Iranians, but also Saudis/Iraqis/Syrians/Afghans and other Middle Eastern countries (that they or other family members have visited) view Americans as the terrorist.
They strongly believe that the Americans only want to do one thing in the middle east, which is to exploit the oil and all financial benefits for themselves. They also believe that Israel wishes to keep Iranian military power down as they are afraid of Iran, but they do not think Israel is the biggest problem. There was more but this is the short version. This was from my family in the south west corner of Iran, and it seems my family from all across the land seems to share similar views. My greatest concern is my home town of Arak, where one of the nuclear centers is located. If that is hit, it will most definitely affect my family directly.

Interesting...So Israel has nuclear weapons, but hasn't used them. Do you think that if Muslim extremists' had nuclear weapons, you could say the same for them? That is where the big difference is between the two.

Hobby of yours? Either way, we shall see.
Nope, not a hobby, just being a smart alec. I figure it wouldn't make sense for the US and/or UK to attack on a Christian holiday, though. It would be better to attack on one of their holidays, or show signs of an attack and do a different attack the next day. Friday would be a good day to declare an air and naval blockade, which is an act of war, but not a good day for a strike, in my opinion.

I'm probably wrong, though. I was a peon standing in the back of the room for a lot of mission briefs, but not the smart guy planning the brief.

Tell your family that its government should honor agreements that it signed. IE, the nuclear non-proliferation treaty. Then elect people who don't come across as wacked out religious fanatics as leaders. Then don't take soldiers and claim that it was some kind of "plant". I mean really, apply some second grade reasoning to the situation and realize that if Iran simply gave the soldiers back right now then the Great Satan would have no leverage to use in an attack on Iran. I mean, IF that bullshit tinfoil hat conspiracy theory spouted by the totalitarian religious regime were true in the first place.

LMFAO @ the Can-Iranian using a Russian source for news. Jeez dude, I guess you not only get all their used, dilapidated military equipment, but you get their tabloid reports as well.

Anyway, you had better just pray that we do start an offensive on armpit of the world called Iran and you guys just take your ass-whippin' like good savages because any retalliation you try just might be enough of an excuse to have Israel level you. You know damned well they've been looking for an excuse and they can justifiably do it with any hiccup from Iran that they feel is offensive. They have that claim since the looney runnig Iran has been throwing out rediculous thraets (that we all know he can't back).

Religious preference aside, Israel could wipe out all you mecca-leccas without breaking a sweat. Most of you know that since you really haven't done shit, except a few annoying, chicken-shit bombings here and there.

my american viewpoint is this:

how many kidnappings and decapitations do you see here in the U.S. based on religion or nationality? none.

any Iranian or other camel jockey can come to this country and not feel in danger of being killed just because they were a diaper on their head. plain and simple.

the iranians and the like over there are only told what their government and religious leaders want them to know so they can keep their hatred up for a country they are in essence jealous of.

There will never be peace in the middle east and there never has been. if there wasn't the U.S. and Isreal to hate, they would just hate themselves just like the Sunni's and Shiites in iraq. it doesn't matter... they have been raised with a baby bottle in one hand and an AK-47 in the other for many decades... not just today.

i certainly hate muslims, but i know how to contain my hatred in a CIVALIZED way.... as most americans do.

can't say the same for the flag burning idiots in the middle east.

Fair enough. But do you realize what you have just said resembles America perfectly? America has chosen war with more countries over the last 50 years than any other. America suffers from so many internal problems, corruption, unprecedented murder rates and racism/stereotypes than any other country in the world. It's easy to point out other peoples errors, but not so easy to follow your own advice.
SS

The country who tolerates every person and does not get any tolerance from any other country is full of corruption? Why is it that no one is dying (literally) to come into Canada, Iran, Iraq, Mexico, or any other country besides the U.S.?

BTW, violent crime is way down in this country, and all the internal problems are caused by our tolerance of peple like you who hate this country, not by those of us who love it.

You have sided with Palestinians and spoken some harsh citicism of Jews, so I wonder where your biases come from. It has been my position that until the Palestinians stop committing homicide bombings, nothing will change.

I find it ironic that you called the U.S. racist when you beleive that Isreal does not have the right to exist.

Arguable, but whatever. There are certainly more people trying to get into the US than probably any other country in the world. That says something.
