I just made an offer for position 3 of 4 for AD architecture and migration work. Need people with significant AD experience, and who can sit through an hour long team interview... with a whiteboard and lots of questions :) Geez those are fun from this side of the table!

*edit*
Also, there's good chance of travel to both Alton (outside of St. Louis, but rarely) and Chicago (where I've been going the most). Not mandatory, but would be helpful once the actual migrations start full-swing.

When did Rackspace come to the DFW area? It's been 4 years since I've worked in that market, so I'm out of touch with the hosting companies. I only remember the San Antonio DC.

I dunno about that, I'm pretty happy with what I'm being paid. Making more now than back at the height of the .com bubble when I was working for a multi-billion dollar international company and everyone was just throwing money at IT guys. Could I make more? Probably. But the company is super stable at a time when other outsourcing companies are signing bad deals and being forced to lay off people.

My brother worked here. He seemed to like it. I know they've lost 2 people so they may be looking for someone. He did more IP Telephony stuff-it's worth a shot, I guess.

Perot seems to always be hiring. Usually get spam from head hunters with Perot being the client wanting my kind of experience. UGH!

I don't think so, it's just a different environment than some expect. Some people come in and see it as a major beating and excessive amounts of work... but honestly I RARELY put in more than 50 hours a week. Last place I worked, a typical day was 6am-7pm, so 50 hours is sweet. I can come in at any reasonable time, leave at any reasonable time, and life is good. There's a lot of politics, but any larger corporation has that.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with what I do and what I get paid for doing it. You'll find people on both sides of the happy fence at any company.

I work on new customer signings, developing their Wintel environments then building it. I then hand it over to a support team. I can tell you that there is a lot of new business being signed, and that means new people need to be hired. I'm not oblivious to the fact that any company has turnover, though.

I dont think so. I'm just about to finish training there and my job is INSANELY easy. The only thing i'm worried about is getting bored with it, but i hope to pick up a few things here and there. Even though i wish it was a bit more hands on and what not. A day in the life of my job is:

8-5, M-F There are alternating weekend shifts aswell, but then you get days off during the week, still only 40 hours, unless you want to pick up more.
So far, my account i've noticed is averaging about 25 calls per day. There are a small amount of people compared to other accounts, on the floor, but all we support is THIS account, which is kind of nice.
I see it as 8 hours a day, sitting on a computer with the only website i've found out that i can't get to is myspace, and answering phone calls such as "i've locked myself out of Active Directory" or "I can't remember my password". That makes up for about 78% of the calls we recieve, i know this because i was looking at our reports.
There are several calls that are more indepth, such as "i've locked myself out of AS400" or "I need to switch my AS400" printer... which on a scale of IT intesity i would give a 2. lol.
in the mean time from calls, we work emails that come into the help desk. or eat or talk about World of Warcraft, or cars.

All in all, if you want an easy inside job making $12 an hour or more and you know some IT, and you have EXCELLENT customer service, more than likely you'll get hired. They look at it as "you can't teach someone customer service, but you can teach them technology". I believe most people come in through temp agencies or placement agencies so if you dont work out in 90 days... it was a great experience for everyone.

If you have a STRONG IT background or specialize in something, it seems there is plenty of room to move around once you put your time in. We have security teams and special application teams that handle specific questions that our end users have.

I'd like my job more if it were next door, but who wouldn't? But, my 80 mile round trip in my lightning that gets 10-12mpg is making look for either a new ride, or a new job.

Other than that. I like it.

I probably would have interviewed with them if I didn't live in Arlington. Plano is such a hike. Unless they have like 11am and up shifts. If they do, let me know. I kinda need a job right now :D
